SCOPE: Performs predetermined repetitive operations in the assembly of right-angle gear drives. EDUCATION/TRAINING: High School Diploma or GED. Preferred one to two years Trade School or experience in industrial machining. SECIAL SKILLS: Lathe work, grinding, drilling, fitting and pressing operation, ability to read and use micrometers, and gauges; knowledge of parts, must work well with others.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Check drive card for special instructions. Check gear serial numbers, model and ratio to ensure they meet drive card specifications. Check ground surfaces on shafts for damage to critical areas. Assemble and set bearings and gears to specifications, mounting distances and backlash. Check position of oil line to spiral bevel gears.

Inspect and ensure assembly is complete. Documentation – gear MD’s, spacer lengths, gear serial numbers, bearing settings, heat numbers (if applicable) are recorded onto drive card. Paperwork forwarded and filed as necessary. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Standing at least 8 hours per day, lifting to 50 lbs., frequent bending, and stooping.
