Job description

Project Engineer Aerospace China Engineering (ACE) | Shanghai | On-site As a Project Engineer at Honeywell Aerospace, you will support the planning and execution of aerospace engineering projects, with a strong focus on project coordination, customer communication, technical issue follow-up, and disciplined delivery. You will work across customers, the China engineering team, and global Engineering Centers of Excellence to keep scope, schedule, actions, risks, and technical deliverables aligned.

You will report directly to our Engineering Manager and work from our Shanghai location on an on-site schedule. This is an early-career Project Engineer role for someone who already has hands-on project engineering experience and is ready to take ownership of defined work packages and customer-facing coordination, while continuing to deepen aerospace systems knowledge.

In this role, you will impact the successful integration and execution of Honeywell Aerospace mechanical systems and power-system projects, including Auxiliary Power Unit (APU) applications, by helping teams make timely decisions, close open issues, maintain reliable engineering data, and meet customer and program commitments.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Coordinate day-to-day project activities between customers, local engineering teams, and global Honeywell Aerospace organizations. Own and maintain project plans, action registers, schedules, risks, issues, decisions, and status reporting for assigned work packages. Prepare and lead regular customer and internal project reviews, including agendas, presentations, meeting minutes, action follow-up, and escalation of blockers.

Support project scope definition, baseline control, resource planning, and change management under the guidance of senior project and engineering leaders. Develop gap analyses and practical closure plans for technical, schedule, documentation, and interface issues, then drive actions to completion. Coordinate the preparation, review, release, and configuration of engineering deliverables such as interface documents, analysis reports, compliance evidence, and customer presentations.

Support system definition, performance assessment, trade studies, conceptual design activities, and low-complexity technical analyses as required. Facilitate clear technical communication between customers and global teams, including accurate bilingual communication or translation when needed. Build productive working relationships with customers and internal stakeholders through responsiveness, transparency, and reliable follow-through.

Contribute to continuous improvement of project engineering methods, templates, metrics, and team knowledge. YOU MUST HAVE Bachelor's degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Thermodynamic, Systems Engineering, or a related engineering discipline. Typically 3 to 5 years of relevant professional experience, including demonstrable hands-on experience in a Project Engineer, systems/project coordination, or comparable engineering project role.

Experience supporting product development or complex engineering projects involving multiple functions, organizations, or external customers. Ability to build and maintain schedules, action lists, risk and issue logs, status reports, and engineering documentation. Strong ownership and organizational skills, with the ability to manage several priorities and close actions with limited supervision.

Clear written and spoken communication skills in both Mandarin Chinese and English. Working proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. WE VALUE Knowledge of the aerospace industry, aircraft development programs, or aerospace customer and supplier interfaces. Exposure to gas turbines, APUs, propulsion, environmental control, thermal systems, or other aircraft mechanical systems.

Understanding of systems engineering, requirements, verification, configuration management, product lifecycle, or aerospace certification practices. Experience working with remote, cross-cultural, or multinational engineering teams. Practical problem-solving skills and comfort working through ambiguity with support from senior technical resources.

A proactive, detail-oriented, and collaborative working style, with a strong commitment to customer success, quality, and continuous improvement. Project management training or certification, Agile exposure, or familiarity with Lean / Six Sigma methods. THE BUSINESS Honeywell Aerospace is an independent global aerospace and defense company focused on protecting and advancing the promise of flight.

We deliver critical technologies and integrated solutions across aircraft engines, auxiliary power, avionics, connectivity, mechanical systems, and related services. Our China engineering team works with customers and global teams to support Chinese and international aerospace programs through local engineering capability, disciplined execution, and close customer partnership.
