About the Position The Scorekeeper/Gym Attendant plays an important role in keeping our basketball leagues running smoothly.

This position is responsible for operating the scoreboard, maintaining an accurate scorebook and helping supervise gym activities during youth and adult basketball games. Essential Functions

Operate the scoreboard and accurately maintain the scorebook during youth and adult basketball games. Arrive early to unlock and prepare the gym and facility for games and athletic events. Monitor gym activities and help maintain a clean, safe and organized environment. Assist with spills, general cleaning and organizing team and spectator seating.

Communicate with contracted game officials regarding league procedures and game expectations. Ensure necessary game equipment and first aid supplies are available. Complete appropriate safety forms and provide first aid supplies as needed. Assist with gym setup, takedown and other cleaning duties. Follow all Batavia Park District policies, procedures and safety guidelines.

Provide a positive, professional and welcoming experience for participants, spectators, officials and staff. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Currently enrolled in high school or older. An interest in sports, particularly basketball. Ability to multitask and accurately operate a scoreboard while maintaining a written scorebook during fast-paced games.

Strong communication and customer service skills. Good decision-making and problem-solving abilities. Ability to work independently and handle stressful situations professionally. A positive attitude and commitment to providing excellent customer service. Availability on weekends and some weeknights. Work Environment & Physical Requirements This position works in an indoor gym environment with basketballs, whistles, spectators and the excitement of game-day crowds.

Much of the time is spent seated at the scorer's table operating the scoreboard and maintaining the scorebook. Physical responsibilities include setting up and taking down the gym before and after games, as well as occasionally lifting and moving items weighing more than 50 pounds. Schedule: Days and times vary; includes weekends and some weeknights.

Starting Pay: $16.00–$17.00 per hour, depending on qualifications. Job Type: Part-Time Benefits: Not benefit eligible. The Batavia Park District is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
