Payroll Supervisor, North America
Job description
The dedicated Payroll Supervisor will lead a team to ensure the accurate and timely processing of payroll for over 55,000 employees across NOAM. This role involves leading and supporting high-volume, multi-state payroll operations across a large enterprise organization, ensuring accurate payroll processing and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
This role is not hybrid/remote and will report to Sherwin-Williams Hinckley Industrial Parkway located at 4770 Hinckley Industrial Pkwy, Cleveland, OH 44109. Because this role involves access to confidential financial information, the Company has determined that a review of criminal history is necessary to protect the business and its operations and reputation and to provide similar protections for its clients and potential investments.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS Supervise Payroll Team Members to ensure accurate and timely end-to-end payroll processing for over 55,000 employees, while adhering to all government reporting requirements for earnings, deductions, and taxes in a fast-paced, multi-state environment. Support Payroll Processing by providing proactive payroll assistance where needed and provide backup support to the team and Payroll Manger.
Partner with regional HR, SBS, and accounting/finance staff to harmonize, problem solve and streamline pay policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with timekeeping, payroll processing, and governmental reporting requirements. Review and approve the work of Payroll team members to ensure data accuracy and compliance with payroll processes, procedures, offering support and expertise.
Serve as an escalation point for complex payroll questions, resolving issues by examining root causes and providing expert guidance. Design, deliver, and maintain payroll training programs, standard operating procedures, and job aids to drive consistency, accuracy, and compliance across payroll operations. Serve as a subject matter expert and trainer for payroll processes, systems, policies, and regulatory requirements, ensuring team readiness and knowledge retention.
Promote a culture of continuous learning by providing regular feedback, coaching, and professional development opportunities for payroll staff. Facilitate onboarding and cross-training initiatives to build a versatile, high-performing payroll team capable of supporting business continuity and organizational growth. Manage the Service.
Now case system. Complete bi-weekly metrics reporting, summarizing data and payroll cases to create solutions for continuous improvement and correcting deficiencies. Drive process improvement initiatives by driving best practices, creating, and updating standard operating procedures. POSITION REQUIREMENTS Required: Bachelor’s degree, in lieu of a bachelor's degree, candidates must possess 7+ years of progressive payroll experience 5+ years of payroll experience supporting payroll operations across multiple states within a large, complex enterprise organization.
3+ years of people leadership and supervisory experience managing payroll teams and operations. Experience working with various enterprise payroll platforms such as Dayforce, Workday, WFM, Oracle, or similar solutions. Experience with knowledge of all aspects of payroll processes and related systems, including garnishments, unions, benefits, taxes, time & attendance collection for multiple countries (regional exposure).
Experience in multi-jurisdictional payroll processing, payroll tax compliance, and payroll controls in a high-volume environment. Experience partnering with cross-functional stakeholders including Human Resources, Finance, Tax, Compliance, and Information Technology. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future for employment visa status Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age Preferred: CPP Certification Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance or business administration Experience leading payroll transformation initiatives, process standardization, and technology enhancements.
Project management experience Experience with enterprise payroll platforms such as Dayforce, Workday, SAP, Oracle, or similar solutions. Experience supporting payroll operations across multiple countries within North America. Additional language skills would be an advantage Experience working for a global and diverse company Experience leveraging AI Automation, Power Automate, Power BI
