Job description

Position Summary

The Core Development Engineer-Air Compressor develops the core technology for air supply units and compressors used in BWI air suspension and leveling systems.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Design and develop compressor and air supply unit components and assemblies. Analyze airflow, thermal, noise, and durability performance. Plan and evaluate prototype builds and compressor testing. Lead DFMEA and design reviews for compressor designs. Work with motor, valve, and dryer suppliers. Resolve compressor issues from testing, production, and the field.

Support core technology roadmaps for air suspension.

Qualifications

Required Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. 3+ years of experience with compressors, pneumatic systems, or electromechanical products. Proficiency with 3D CAD. Knowledge of DFMEA and DVP&R. Preferred Experience with automotive air suspension systems. Knowledge of DC motors and NVH. Experience with CFD or thermal analysis.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements Work is performed primarily in an office and engineering lab environment, with prolonged periods of computer use. Periodic time in prototype labs, test facilities, manufacturing areas, and vehicles, including ride-alongs and proving-ground or winter/summer test events. Must follow site safety rules and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) in lab, test, and plant areas.
