Design Engineer
- Rail Signalling Power and LV Systems About the Employer Our client is an engineering and construction business working across transport, defence and major infrastructure. It combines project delivery expertise with a focus on collaboration, technical improvement and sustainable outcomes. The Opportunity Deliver signalling power and low-voltage electrical design for rail train-control modernisation in Perth. Reporting to engineering leadership, you will develop design documentation and support construction teams through surveys, reviews and technical resolution.
Your Responsibilities
- Prepare and review power calculations, drawings, models, specifications and technical reports.
- Coordinate signalling, electrical, communications, civil and structural design interfaces.
- Conduct inspections, surveys, constructability checks and interdisciplinary reviews.
- Apply Safety in Design, WHS, environmental and ISO 9001 quality requirements.
- Assess technical risks, develop value improvements and support procurement and construction.
- Clarify requirements and resolve design queries with project stakeholders.
Requirements
Skills, Education and Requirements
- A bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
- At least five years designing electrical infrastructure, particularly LV, ELV or signalling power.
- Knowledge of Australian rail environments, AS/NZS 3000, AS/RISSB and rail authority requirements, including PTA WA.
- Design and drafting software proficiency, such as MicroStation or AutoCAD.
- Strong design-process, Safety in Design and quality-management knowledge.
- Eligibility for Chartered status, relevant professional registration and RIW accreditation is preferred.
