Area Assistant General Manager

Position: Area Assistant General Manager Employment Type: Full-Time, Salaried Annual Salary: $75,000–$85,000 Reports To: General Manager Locations: Hampton Inn & Suites Fresno, Homewood Suites Fresno, and Spring. Hill Suites Fresno — Fresno, California ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY We are seeking a hands-on, service-driven Area Assistant General Manager to help lead daily operations at Hampton Inn & Suites Fresno, Homewood Suites Fresno, and Spring.

Hill Suites Fresno. You will work alongside another Area Assistant General Manager as peers, both reporting directly to the General Manager and jointly supporting all three hotels. Together, you will support hotel operations, team development, guest satisfaction, financial performance, and brand standards. WHAT YOU'LL DO

Hotel Operations & Guest Experience Support daily operations at all three properties and maintain a regular, visible leadership presence. Conduct property inspections to ensure cleanliness, maintenance, safety, guest readiness, and brand standards. Monitor staffing, guest activity, maintenance concerns, and operational priorities.

Engage with guests, resolve concerns, and promote excellent service recovery. Support compliance with company policies, operating procedures, and safety requirements. Leadership & Team Development Provide coaching, direction, and support to team members and department leaders. Help establish clear expectations, goals, and accountability.

Assist with recruiting, interviewing, onboarding, training, and retention. Support employee performance management, recognition, and development. Promote a respectful, accountable, and service-focused workplace. Financial & Business Performance Support the General Manager in achieving revenue, profitability, and operational goals.

Assist with budgeting and financial performance management. Monitor labor, operating expenses, supplies, and controllable costs. Identify opportunities to improve efficiency without compromising guest experience. Assist with purchasing, financial controls, reporting, and documentation. Sales & Revenue Support Support revenue-generation efforts and sales and marketing initiatives at all three properties.

Maintain awareness of local market conditions, competitors, demand generators, and business opportunities. Build positive business and community relationships and communicate prospective sales leads. COMPLEX LEADERSHIP Partner with the General Manager and your peer Area Assistant General Manager to coordinate priorities, daily coverage, and follow-through across all three Fresno hotels.

You will regularly travel among the properties and provide leadership where support is most needed. Keep clear handoffs and consistent service expectations across the complex while respecting each brand’s standards. You may serve as Manager on Duty or acting hotel leader when assigned.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Strong hospitality and guest-service skills. Previous hotel management experience: a minimum of two years is required. Working knowledge of Front Office, Housekeeping, Maintenance, Sales, and basic hotel financial performance. Strong leadership, coaching, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to balance competing priorities across multiple locations.

Sound judgment, initiative, and problem-solving ability in a fast-paced hotel environment. Proficiency with hotel operating systems and general business technology. Hilton or Marriott hotel experience preferred; multi-property experience is a plus. Associate degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or a related field preferred; equivalent management experience may be considered.

SCHEDULE & TRAVEL EXPECTATIONS Hotels operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. This full-time salaried role requires a flexible schedule, regular travel among the three Fresno properties, and some evenings, weekends, and holidays. Coordinate coverage with your peer Area Assistant General Manager and respond appropriately to urgent operational matters and emergencies in accordance with company policy and applicable law.

PHYSICAL & WORK ENVIRONMENT This active leadership role involves regular movement throughout guest rooms, public areas, offices, back-of-house spaces, parking areas, and hotel grounds. Duties regularly involve standing and walking and may occasionally include bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching, climbing stairs, and handling supplies or materials.

COMPENSATION
