Java Developer
Job description
The Java Developer will design, develop, and maintain Java-based applications while collaborating closely with IT managers and project teams to deliver high-quality software solutions that meet business requirements and project objectives. Accountability Supporting Activities Outcome/ deliverables Requirements Analysis & Solution Design Collaborate with IT Managers and stakeholders to gather business requirements; Translate requirements into technical and functional specifications Clear, complete, and approved technical specifications; alignment with business objectives.
Application Development Design, code, and enhance Java applications using appropriate frameworks; Follow coding standards and best practices. High-quality, maintainable, and scalable Java applications delivered on time. Testing & Quality Assurance Prepare unit and integration test cases; Execute tests and fix defects; Participate in code reviews.
Applications validated against requirements; minimal defects; quality standards met. Issue Resolution & Support Troubleshoot application issues; Provide timely fixes and updates; Collaborate with QA and operations teams. Timely resolution of defects and system issues; minimal disruption to operations. Project Planning & Estimation.
Assist in estimating time, resources, and costs; Support project schedules and prioritization Accurate project estimates; projects delivered within planned timelines and budget Documentation & Knowledge Sharing Maintain technical documentation; Share knowledge with team members; Contribute to best practices. Up-to-date documentation; improved team capability and knowledge continuity.
Continuous Improvement Identify areas for performance, scalability, and code optimization; Implement improvements. Enhanced application performance, maintainability, and efficiency. Collaboration & Communication Work with cross-functional teams; Participate in meetings and status updates; Report progress. Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- A Master’s degree is a plus but not mandatory. Optional Certifications:
- Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) – Java SE or equivalent.
- Spring Professional Certification or certifications in related Java frameworks.
- Certified Scrum Developer (CSD) or Agile/Scrum certification (if working in Agile teams).
- Cloud Platform Certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Developer, Microsoft Azure Developer) – beneficial for cloud-based projects.
- Any other industry-recognized certifications relevant to software development, application security, or DevOps practices. JOB SPECIFIC SKILLS & COMPETENCIES REQUIRED Key-in (if any) Job Specific Skills and Competencies required not mentioned in the Skills Family Competency Framework.
- Strong programming skills in Java, with experience in Spring Boot (mandatory), Spring, and Java EE.
- Hands-on experience with MongoDB, Oracle DB, and Microsoft SQL Server.
- Experience in designing and implementing Microservices Architecture.
- Good knowledge of JSON, RESTful APIs, and Web Services.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and time management skills with high attention to detail.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize workloads to meet deadlines.

- Determine the most appropriate coding approach, design patterns, and frameworks for assigned tasks.
