PLANS EXAMINER Lake Havasu City, AZ Closing Date: Open Until Filled OTF27-329 Job Title: Plans Examiner Salary: $29.68-$43.04/Hourly; DOQ Trainee: $26.71 FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Grade: CP10 Location: Lake Havasu City, AZ Position Overview The Plans Examiner reviews building plans and construction documents to ensure compliance with city codes and regulations. The role may also involve site inspections and coordination with other departments during the plan review process.
Key Responsibilities
Review residential construction plans and structural documents Ensure compliance with building codes, city policies, and ordinances Coordinate plan review with engineering, fire, and planning departments Interpret blueprints, calculations, and construction specifications Perform field inspections when necessary Communicate corrections or code requirements to contractors and developers Maintain plan review records and reports Minimum Qualifications Associates/Technical degree with coursework in building construction, or related field 1-3 years’ experience in plan checking or building construction, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Requirements: Possession of Building Plans Examiner Certification or Residential Plans Examiner Certification issued by the International Code Council (ICC) at hire. Drug and alcohol testing is conducted under the authority of City policy and the Omnibus Transportation Employee Testing Act of 1991. Appointment is subject to a successful background investigation and City paid post-employment medical examination after an offer of employment has been made.
Applicants for employment opportunities should be aware of the Lake Havasu City policies concerning the use of drugs and alcohol. These policies have not been altered by the passage of Proposition 207. The use of recreational marijuana is a violation of the City's Drug-Free Workplace Policy. All positions within the city are required to submit to a pre-employment drug test.
A positive result for drugs tested under the policy, including recreational marijuana, may be grounds for withdrawal of an offer of employment.
