Material Handler

• West Salt Lake City, UT, Position Type: Full Time, Salary Range: $17.50 - $17.50Hourly, Job Shift: Any, The Material Handler is responsible for the accurate and efficient movement, storage, and staging of raw materials, packaging supplies, and finished goods in a food manufacturing environment. This position supports production by ensuring materials are available as needed while maintaining a clean, safe, and compliant workspace.

Key Responsibilities

• Load, unload, move, and stage raw materials, ingredients, and packaging components using forklifts, pallet jacks, or by hand.
• Supply production lines with necessary materials in a timely manner to prevent downtime.
• Ensure all materials are correctly labeled, stored, and rotated (FIFO) to maintain product quality and food safety compliance.
• Verify and document incoming and outgoing shipments, ensuring accuracy of quantities, item descriptions, and lot numbers.
• Maintain accurate inventory records and assist with cycle counts and physical inventory processes.
• Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), 5S/6S standards, and food safety procedures at all times.
• Keep all work areas clean and organized, performing routine housekeeping tasks and disposing of waste properly.
• Collaborate with the production and quality teams to ensure material traceability and compliance.
• Report damaged goods, safety hazards, or inventory discrepancies to supervisors immediately.
• Operate warehouse equipment safely and complete equipment checklists when required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Prior experience in a food manufacturing or warehouse environment is a plus.
• Basic math and inventory counting skills.
• Ability to read and understand work instructions, safety guidelines, and material labels in English.
• Team player with a strong work ethic and attention to detail.
• Forklift certification preferred or ability to obtain upon hire. Physical Requirements:
• Must be able to lift, push, and pull up to 50 lbs repeatedly throughout the shift.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and twist for extended periods of time.
• Comfortable working in cold, hot, humid, or dusty environments based on product zones.
• Must be able to operate forklifts or pallet jacks (training/certification provided if necessary). Work Environment:
• Fast-paced production and warehouse areas.
• Exposure to food ingredients, allergens, and sanitation chemicals.
