Subcontractor Helideck Inspector – Netherlands (Local / EU-Based)

SGS Business Assurance – Aviation Compliance is seeking a suitably qualified Helideck Inspector based in the Netherlands to join our network of subcontractor advisors supporting aviation safety and compliance projects across the Netherlands and wider European region.
This is a project-based subcontractor opportunity and does not constitute permanent employment. Location: Netherlands (preference for local or EU-based candidates with the ability to travel within Europe) Role Overview: The successful candidate will conduct helideck inspections and helideck friction testing , as well as support aviation compliance activities, including potential operator audits within Amsterdam and the greater European region.
The role requires a high level of professionalism, technical expertise, and the ability to represent SGS to international clients while ensuring compliance with applicable aviation standards and best practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct helideck inspections in line with applicable aviation standards (e.g. CAP 437)
- Perform helideck friction testing and interpret results
- Assess helideck infrastructure, markings, lighting, safety equipment, and operational readiness
- Prepare detailed inspection reports with findings, limitations, and recommendations
- Support and potentially conduct aviation operator audits where required
- Review Safety Management Systems (SMS) and operational procedures when applicable
- Act as technical liaison between SGS and client representatives
- Maintain strong professional relationships with stakeholders
- Adhere strictly to the SGS Code of Integrity and Professional Conduct Experience:
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in aviation
- Demonstrated experience in helideck inspections or offshore/onshore aviation environments
- Experience with helideck standards (e.g., CAP 437) is highly advantageous
- Exposure to aviation audits (e.g., BARS, operator audits) is beneficial
- Experience working within European aviation regulatory frameworks preferred Required Skills:

- Formal aviation qualification (strict requirement – see licensing below)
- SMS training and/or audit training is advantageous Licensing (Strict Requirement – one of the following):
- Valid or previously held Pilot Licence (preferably ATPL or CPL) OR
- Valid or previously held Licensed Aeronautical Maintenance Engineer (AME)
