Job description

Part Time Fitness Specialist Location: NRC White Flint Complex, Rockville, Maryland Position Type: Part-Time, Onsite, Monday through Friday $19-21 hourly Part-time – Monday through Friday covering portions of the following shifts: Early Shift: 5:45 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. Late Shift: 11:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. The Part-Time Fitness Specialist supports fitness center operations, exercise instruction, member services, and monitoring of the designated group exercise area.

The position provides additional staffing coverage to ensure proper supervision of the separate exercise area when group classes are not in session. Required Qualifications Candidate should have: Education Associate's degree in Health and Fitness Management or Exercise Physiology, or an applicable accredited fitness-related bachelor's degree as described in the SOW.

Professional Certification Current certification from ACSM, ACE, NSCA, NCCPT, or a comparable qualifying organization identified by the SOW. Professional Experience Minimum six (6) months of experience involving: Conducting fitness assessments Designing and implementing exercise programs Teaching exercise techniques Organizing and operating fitness facilities Required Skills and Abilities Knowledge of walking, running, aerobic dance, step training, flexibility, and strength training.

Demonstrated competency conducting aerobic movement classes. Experience in at least one of the following areas: Kinesiology Physiology Biomechanics Injury Prevention Ability to monitor participants and provide safe exercise instruction. Primary Duties The Part-Time Fitness Specialist will: Monitor the separate group exercise area when group classes are not in session.

Conduct fitness assessments and assist with exercise programming. Provide exercise instruction and demonstrate safe techniques. Assist members with cardiovascular, flexibility, and strength training activities. Conduct or support aerobic movement classes. Monitor participants during exercise activities. Provide member assistance and customer service.

Support front desk coverage and member check-in as assigned. Monitor fitness equipment condition and report safety concerns. Maintain appropriate participation and activity records. Support daily fitness center operations and assigned administrative tasks. Follow NRC facility safety and operational procedures. Position is contingent upon contract award.
