Job description
Position Title: Student Services Coordinator, Marshwood and Kittery Adult Education Reports to: Adult Education Director Prepared by: Adult Education Director Date reviewed: October 6, 2026 Marshwood Adult (.6 FTE) and Kittery Adult (.4 FTE) Community Education is seeking a qualified Student Services Coordinator to join our team.
This person is responsible for working directly with the Adult Education Director in planning, coordinating and assisting in all activities related to the adult education academic programs, needs of academic students, and data reporting for grants. This position requires both administrative and teaching responsibilities with very strong attention to detail.
Position Summary
The Adult Education Student Services Coordinator works with the adult education team to create a welcoming environment for adult academic students to thrive. The ideal candidate is someone who enjoys advising and helping adult students achieve their goals. Experience working with adults, low income, at-risk individuals and in academic and career advising is preferred.
Knowledge of Career Pathways, College Transitions and working with non-traditional students is a plus. Experience in standards-based curriculum development and instruction preferred. A high level of oral and written communication skills is required for this position. We are looking for someone who is extremely proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) for both PC and Apple OS and has the ability to learn other program software quickly.
The successful candidate will be very organized and able to maintain accurate student records in writing, in the State mandated data management system and in Excel. Ability to interpret data required. Effective communication with adult education staff is necessary in order to ensure student success. Participation in Academic Team meetings and other professional development activities are expected.
Evening hours are required 1-2 nights per week. The position reports to the Director.
Qualifications
This position requires a Bachelor's degree, preferably in Education, Master's Degree a plus. A Maine professional 7-12 teaching certificate in math or English is preferred. In addition, an adult education teaching endorsement in math or English eligibility is required. Maine Department of Education Criminal History Record Check Certificate (CHRC) eligibility is required.

- Student Recruitment Activities : Actively seeking out and engaging potential students.
- Student Intakes : Conducting thorough assessments during the enrollment process.
- Individual Learning Plans : Tailoring education plans to meet the unique needs of each student.
- Assessment : Evaluating students through both paper-based and computer-based methods.
- College and Career Guidance : Providing essential guidance for students' academic and career decisions.
- Data Collection : Consistently gathering and maintaining critical data.
- Year-Round Reporting : Preparing detailed reports for academic students.
- Student Placement, Retention, Progress : Ensuring students are placed effectively and retained within the program, and working toward their educational goals.
- AEFLA and MCT Grants : Managing data collection and reporting for grant compliance.
- Technology Management : Overseeing the use and maintenance of adult education technology, online testing platforms, and coordinating National Digital Equity courses.
