The Director, Business Development is the senior healthcare sales executive for an assigned Bookmark Medical market. The role owns provider recruitment and market growth from territory segmentation and prospecting through commercial discussions, closing, onboarding, and activation. Success requires consistent in-person selling, disciplined pipeline management, and a demonstrated ability to close complex healthcare opportunities.

Key responsibilities
- Develop and execute the assigned market's growth plan in alignment with enterprise priorities and approved economics.
- Segment the market and maintain a prioritized target list of independent primary care physicians, specialists, larger groups, and health system practices.
- Build trusted relationships through frequent in-person prospecting, physician meetings, practice presentations, local events, and referral channels.
- Originate opportunities across physician affiliation, practice acquisition or recruitment, health system carve-outs, and strategic partnerships, and manage qualified opportunities to close.
- Maintain current intelligence on the provider landscape, competitive activity, referral patterns, health system dynamics, and local market needs.
- Qualify prospects based on strategic fit, provider and patient scale, readiness, economics, stakeholder alignment, and implementation complexity.
- Lead early commercial discussions and coordinate internal experts to develop a clear value proposition and executable structure.
- Partner with Strategic Finance to validate revenue, contribution margin, investment needs, integration requirements, and downside risks.
- Coordinate diligence, contracting, approvals, and implementation planning across Corporate Development and the relevant functional teams.
- Maintain accurate activities, stages, probability, timing, and next steps in the approved CRM. Participate in weekly pipeline reviews and remain engaged after signing through onboarding and activation. Performance measures
- Implemented providers and lives within the assigned market.
- Qualified pipeline coverage, conversion, and forecast accuracy.
- Acquisitions and affiliations activated under the approved operating model.
- Revenue and contribution margin delivered against approved business cases.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in business, healthcare administration, finance, marketing, or a related field.
- At least 7 years of relevant experience for Director candidates and typically 10 years for Senior Director candidates.
- Healthcare business development, provider network, physician practice growth, or transaction experience.
- Strong knowledge of physician practice economics, provider decision making, value-based care, and local healthcare markets.
- Documented success as an individual contributor in a competitive sales environment, including consistent target achievement and the ability to shorten complex sales cycles.
- Highly self-directed and metrics driven, with strong communication, time management, analytical, and organizational skills; established local relationships and reliable transportation required. Key relationships and scope The role owns market development and the commercial opportunity. Managed Care owns payer negotiations. Marketing owns brand and communications execution. Affiliate Management owns established partner service and retention. Finance, Legal, Clinical, Analytics, Operations, and Technology retain decisions within their functions while supporting the opportunity process.
