Tax Planner & Preparer (Year-Round)

Drake & Associates is a Wisconsin-based financial planning firm that helps families retire with confidence. We're looking for a tax professional who wants more than a busy season: someone who enjoys planning ahead with clients as much as preparing their returns. Why This Role Is Different Year-round work. About half your year is proactive planning and client strategy, so the work doesn't stop on April 15. Focused on individuals. You'll work on individual federal and state returns for families, retirees, and business owners, without a backlog of corporate and partnership filings. Planning that matters. You'll partner with our Financial Advisors on Roth conversions, retirement income, charitable giving, and capital gains, which are decisions that shape how clients retire. Built-in client relationships. Our advisors bring you the clients, so you can focus on doing great tax work.

What You'll Do

Prepare and review federal and state individual income tax returns Meet with clients year-round to find planning opportunities and reduce future tax liabilities Run tax projections, estimated payments, and scenario analyses to guide client decisions. Work with Financial Advisors to build tax strategy into clients' financial plans Research complex tax questions and explain the answers in plain language Help clients respond to IRS and state notices What You Bring Required Active PTIN, or the ability to obtain one before preparing returns Significant professional tax preparation experience Strong individual federal and state income tax experience Experience with tax planning, not just return preparation Strongly preferred CPA or Enrolled Agent (EA) credential Experience with high-net-worth individuals, retirees, and business owners Experience handling IRS and state notices and representing clients before taxing authorities Our Values We're guided by four core values: Ultimate Client Experience, Extreme Ownership, Entrepreneurial Spirit, and Respect the Family .
