Agency Profile Self Help, Inc. is a nonprofit Community Action Agency (CAA) created to help families and individuals stabilize and secure their lives through education, strategic assistance, and building opportunities in their communities.
We provide a range of services for families and households across Southeastern Massachusetts.
Job Summary
Substitute Teachers will provide temporary coverage in our Head Start classrooms. As a Substitute Teacher, you will step into the role of the regular classroom teacher, ensuring the continuation of a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate learning environment for preschool children. This is a great opportunity to contribute to the well-being and education of young children in our community and gain experience within the Head Start framework Essential Duties and Responsibilities Maintain a safe and positive classroom environment that promotes learning and social-emotional development Supervise children in the classroom, during outdoor play, meals, and transitions, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times Follow established classroom routines and schedules Adhere to all Head Start Performance Standards, state licensing regulations, and program policies and procedures Implement the existing lesson plans and activities provided by the regular classroom teacher Engage children in age-appropriate activities that promote cognitive, social-emotional, physical, and language development Read stories, lead songs, and facilitate group activities Adapt activities as necessary to meet the diverse needs of the children in the classroom Follow any specific instructions or notes left by the regular classroom teacher Maintain confidentiality regarding children and families Other Requirements Must pass a criminal background check and other required clearances Must have or be willing to obtain CPR and First Aid certification Must meet the physical requirements of the position, including the ability to lift 50lbs.
