Border/Zipper Sewer

BORDER/ZIPPER SEWER BASIC FUNCTION Being a Border/Zipper Sewer includes piecing borders together, running the appropriate welt in them and running zippers in backs, ottomans and pillows to spec. Monday

• Thursday, 6:30am - 4:00pm (some overtime) SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES Standard operation procedures. Must be able to read ticket and job notes for directions and specifications before sewing. Run zipper and/or border machines Pull borders to remove excess welt cord Thread/re-thread machinery Install rolls of zipper into machinery/attach zipper flies for zipping Exercises care and follow the proper safety procedures to prevent injuries to themselves and their co-workers. May perform other duties/special or non-routine assignments as needed. TOOLS USED WHILE PERFORMING DUTIES: Sewing machine

2. Tape Measure Zipper machine
3. Tweezers Border machine RELATIONSHIPS AND CONTACTS Supervisory Relationships : Reports to Department Supervisor Organization Relationships: Works with other sewers on a daily basis as needed. Ability to adapt to a team oriented, production atmosphere is required. EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS High School graduate helpful Good Communication Skills – oral and written. 3+ years’ experience in production upholstery fabric sewing in an upholstered furniture manufacturing environment preferred.
