Licensed Security Supervisor

Retail Security Supervisor LOCATION: Independence Mall – Wilmington, NC PAY: Starting at $17/hour POSITION TYPE: Full-Time OVERVIEW: We are seeking a Retail Security Supervisor to lead and support our on-site security team. This role is responsible for ensuring a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for customers, employees, and vendors while delivering excellent customer service and strong team leadership.

Medical, dental, vision, and short-term disability insurance 401(k) with company support Paid time off Employee discounts (retail, dining, entertainment) Employee Assistance Program (EAP): counseling, financial, legal, and wellness support Focus on work-life balance and employee well-being KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Team Leadership & Supervision Supervise, coach, and support Security Officers and Shift Leads Manage performance, including coaching and corrective actions when needed Assist with hiring, training, and ongoing development of staff Ensure proper scheduling, coverage, and accurate timekeeping Security Operations Oversee daily security operations and ensure compliance with post orders and company policies Conduct site patrols and inspections to maintain safety standards Ensure reports, logs, and documentation are completed accurately and on time Respond to incidents, emergencies, and alarms; coordinate with local authorities as needed Safety & Systems Management Monitor and support the use of security systems (CCTV, alarms, fire panels, access control, elevators) Ensure all equipment and company vehicles are maintained and functioning properly Maintain knowledge of emergency procedures and enforce safety protocols Client & Communication Build strong relationships with mall management, tenants, and local police/fire departments Communicate regularly with the Operations Manager regarding team and site performance Provide excellent customer service through professional interactions with all visitors QUALIFICATIONS: Required Prior security experience with supervisory or leadership responsibilities Knowledge of security operations, procedures, and safety practices Ability to obtain and maintain required security licenses/certifications Strong written and verbal communication skills (report writing required) Ability to remain calm and professional in high-pressure situations Skills & Competencies Proven leadership and team management skills Strong customer service mindset Ability to multitask, stay organized, and prioritize effectively Comfortable using security systems and standard office equipment Reliable, adaptable, and detail-oriented Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work across diverse groups Work Environment This is a hands-on leadership role requiring time spent both supervising staff and actively participating in security operations, including patrols and incident response.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS High School Diploma or GED 3–6 months security or life‑safety experience State Guard license Ability to lift 50 lbs. and perform physical tasks
