Job description

Account Director – The Hoffman Agency Seeking smart, ambitious account directors with a passion for storytelling. If you find ownership and being in the thick of the action exhilarating, and you relish the opportunity to advise clients and solve difficult problems while leading and working with smart, fun, and experienced teammates, then look no further.

The Hoffman Agency is a global public relations and integrated marketing communications consultancy that crafts stories to build brands, with a focus on B2B tech companies. We are seeking account directors who want to be on the frontline of strategy and execution with a passion for storytelling, mentoring, and a commitment to excellence.

Must also have a sense of humor and appetite for working in a positive team environment. Our US storytellers work out of Boston MA, Portland OR or San Jose CA with a hybrid model. The Role: As an Account Director, you'll lead a portfolio of four to six client accounts and own both the strategy and the execution. You will be the senior counselor clients turn to, the manager your team learns from, and a real contributor to the agency's growth.

Lead client programs Own a portfolio of 4–6 B2B accounts, setting strategy and staying close enough to the execution that the work consistently exceeds client expectations. Serve as a trusted advisor to client executives: offer strategic counsel, make clear recommendations, and set expectations for program scope and results.

Drive development of key messages and PR plans and provide senior review of core content such as press releases, Q&A documents, and bylines. Own reporting across your accounts, measuring results against annual goals and using what you learn to sharpen programs and strengthen client satisfaction. Drive media results Set media strategy for your accounts, maintain your own network of reporter relationships, and staff briefings with senior client spokespeople.

Build your team Manage direct reports and mentor junior team members through regular feedback, clear goals, and actionable development plans that support their growth at Hoffman. Grow the business Contribute to RFPs, pitch decks, and new business presentations. Spot opportunities to expand Hoffman's services within existing accounts where they'll increase client impact.

What You Bring: 8+ years of public relations experience; agency experience preferred. A track record of managing multiple B2B accounts, including building and executing PR plans. People management experience, ideally with direct reports. Excellent writing and editing skills. You can sharpen a teammate's draft and hold your own with a client's C-suite.

Strong organizational skills to juggle multiple clients, deadlines, and priorities without dropping the ball. Comfort with the tools of modern PR, including media databases, monitoring and measurement platforms, and AI-assisted workflows. Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, PR, business, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

Who Thrives Here: Tech-curious . You're genuinely interested in technology and the companies building it. A leader who rolls up their sleeves. You set direction and pitch in when the team needs it. An owner . You take initiative, think like an entrepreneur, and hold yourself accountable for results. A proactive thinker.

You spot problems, and opportunities, before the client does. Always learning. New industries, new channels, and new tools excite you. Wants to have fun. We take the work seriously, not ourselves. A sense of humor is a genuine requirement. Where you work: This is a hybrid role (2-3 days/week in the office) based in one of our US offices: Boston MA, Portland OR, or San Jose CA.

Expect occasional travel to clients and other offices. People-centered benefits: 20 PTO days 11 holidays including MLK day, President’s Day, and Floating Holiday Birthday PTO 401(k) with match Knock-off early on Fridays! Weekly Wellness Hour Sabbatical program Home office stipend Wellness and Professional Development Fund Mentor Program Salary range: $100,000 to $140,000 based on location and experience
