• Responsible for developing a plan of care to meet the patient’s nutritional needs.

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Food and Nutrition or Dietetics Licenses and Certification
• Registered Dietitian or license pending (Student Dietician) Experience and Skills
• No experience Necessary Role Specific Responsibilities
• Screens patients for determination of nutritional status.
• Recommends supplements, advances diets and provides nutritional support to physicians/staff.
• Consults with inpatients, family, physicians, nurses and staff, as appropriate, to provide nutrition education
• Assesses and reassesses patients at nutritional risk and makes recommendations for nutrition therapy.
• Develops or orders nutrition education materials for patients, employees and the community.
• Reviews and revises modified diet information provided by Food & Nutrition Services.
• Provides nutritional education to employees, outpatients and community members as needed.
