Associate Campus Minister

St. Johns & St. Thomas Aquinas parish in East Lansing is seeking a full time Associate Campus Ministry that will report to the Director of Campus Ministry. Parish Mission: Forming disciples of Jesus Christ in communion with the Catholic church. General Summary: This position assists in the ministry of the parish to the students, faculty, and staff of Michigan State University, through forming disciples and providing faith encounter opportunities in cooperation with the parish staff.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities: Plan and facilitate monthly Upper Room meetings for student leaders’ ongoing formation and mission community and provide shepherding for students with active apostolates. Manage the Alternative Spring Break Program, including site registration, student recruitment and formation, fundraising, and travel; and create other service opportunities for undergraduate students.

Plan and facilitate retreats, including leadership retreat days, freshmen retreat, and fall and spring retreats. Provide pastoral care and spiritual guidance to undergraduate students. Report to and consult regularly with the Director of Campus Ministry, providing project plans and status reports and participating in periodic performance reviews.

Other duties related to the mission of the parish as assigned by the Director of Campus Ministry. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Education: Bachelor's degree in theology, pastoral ministry, or a related field. Experience: Experience in campus ministry and knowledge of catechetical processes and resources. Require: Will require weekend work and the need to be available to students according to their schedules.

Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment. Physical Demands: While performing duties, employee has to sit for long periods of time, use hands in repetitive motion tasks, and answer telephone calls. The position also requires some standing, stooping, and bending while filing. Must be able to lift 40 lbs.
