Position Summary

The Quality Assurance Manager is responsible for leading all quality, feed safety, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement activities for the livestock nutrition manufacturing facilities. This role serves as the livestock nutrition’s Preventive Controls Qualified Individual (PCQI) and Safe Feed/Safe Food Program Leader, ensuring compliance with FDA, FSMA, AAFCO, state feed regulations, and customer requirements.

Our Quality Assurance Manager plays a critical role in protecting animal health, ensuring regulatory compliance, maintaining customer trust, and driving operational excellence throughout our livestock nutrition manufacturing operations. This role has 3 direct reports and multi-site responsibility.

What You'll Do

Promote a workplace safety and quality culture that aligns with Rangen Values. Manage the facility Quality Management System (QMS). Develop, implement, and maintain Feed Safety Plans and prerequisite programs. Lead hazard analysis, preventive controls, verification activities, and corrective actions. Oversee product testing, sampling, laboratory activities, and product release decisions.

Investigate customer complaints, non-conformances, and quality incidents using root cause analysis. Maintain compliance with FDA FSMA Preventive Controls for Animal Food requirements. Lead Safe Feed/Safe Food certification activities and regulatory inspections. Ensure compliance with AAFCO ingredient, labeling, and feed regulations.

Coordinate traceability, recall preparedness, and mock recall exercises. Monitor quality standards for manufactured feed products. Verify adherence to GMPs, sanitation programs, and process controls. Partner with Operations to improve product consistency, process capability, and operational performance. Support Management of Change (MOC) activities related to ingredients, formulations, equipment, and processes.

Participate in supplier approval and ingredient qualification programs. Review specifications, Certificates of Analysis, and supplier documentation. Conduct internal audits, develop actions plans and close them out based on findings. Monitor supplier performance, implement corrective actions as needed and escalate poor performance.

Supervise FSQR Specialist and FSQ technicians and laboratory personnel. Train employees on feed safety, quality systems, GMPs, and regulatory requirements. Foster a culture of quality, feed safety, and continuous improvement across the facility. Support quality, feed safety, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement activities across multiple sites.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Animal Science, Food Science, Feed Science, Biology, Microbiology, Agriculture, or related field preferred. Minimum 5 years of quality, feed safety, or food safety experience in feed manufacturing, grain processing, or animal nutrition. Previous supervisory or management experience preferred. Multi-site experience, preferred.

Willingness to travel frequently between different company sites. Strong knowledge of FDA FSMA, Preventive Controls for Animal Food, AAFCO, GMPs, and feed manufacturing operations.
