Senior Secondary Design Engineer (f/m/d)

A Snapshot of Your Day As a Senior Secondary Designer, you will drive the design and execution of protection and control systems for high and medium voltage substations across global projects. The role combines advanced secondary engineering, detailed AC/DC calculations, and technical leadership to deliver high-quality, standards-compliant solutions.

Close collaboration with customers, suppliers, and international engineering teams ensures that complex technical requirements are translated into successful project outcomes while supporting business continuity within the Digital Grid Automation engineering center. How You’ll Make an Impact Shape protection and control panel designs for HV substations, delivering circuit diagrams, assembly drawings, and detailed LV specifications.

Develop core engineering documentation, including single line diagrams, communication network architectures, and protection block diagrams. Translate customer technical requirements into robust, standards-compliant engineering solutions that support successful project execution. Execute complex secondary engineering calculations covering AC/DC distribution systems, cable sizing, battery sizing, and equipment selection.

Provide technical guidance throughout the project lifecycle, reviewing key deliverables, validating bills of material, and supporting multidisciplinary teams. Partner with customers, suppliers, and global engineering colleagues to resolve technical challenges and maintain project alignment. What You Bring Completed university degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related technical discipline.

More than 8 years of experience in HV substation secondary engineering, including protection systems, calculations, and design coordination. Hands-on expertise with engineering tools such as AutoCAD, EPLAN, Engineering Base, ELCAD, or Caddy++. Strong knowledge of IEC and IEEE standards, combined with practical experience in AC/DC calculations, cable sizing, and battery sizing methodologies.

Confident communicator in English who enjoys collaborating across international project teams and stakeholder groups.
