PART-TIME: RECREATION AIDE- ATHLETICS & EVENTS (7 POSITIONS) Category: Part-Time Status: Open Salary: Min. $15.00 - $15.75 Published: October 6, 2026 Closing: Until Filled DEFINITION To assist with the implementation and delivery of various recreational athletic programs, leagues, and departmental / City-wide special events & activities.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED Receives general supervision from the Recreation Programs Coordinator and/or Recreation Specialist. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Duties MAY include, but are not limited to, the following: Scorekeeping and/or Bookkeeping for youth & adult basketball leagues on the weekends. Setup and cleanup of gymnasiums on game days.

Maintaining a safe & clean environment for all participants and spectators on game days. Documenting any accident or incident that may occur during games or practices. Serving as a gym monitor on practice nights during the week. Establishing a professional & harmonious working relationship with referees, coaches, and parents.

Assisting the Recreation Specialist with league tryouts, sport clinics/camps, and sport classes. Assisting the department with various City-wide special events which may include event promotion, event setup, facilitating and/or monitoring activities during the event, community engagement, and event cleanup. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS For indefinite periods of time - mobility within an office, gym, field, or street environment; exposure to constant indoor noise and occasional extreme heat outdoors; walking; twisting body; stooping; standing; squatting; sorting; sitting; seeing; pushing, pulling, lifting, and carrying up to 50 pounds; cleaning; reading; decision making; reaching above shoulder level; using both hands for simple and firm grasping; clarity of hearing; communicating clearly and effectively (verbally), in person, by two-way radio, and by telephone; fine finger manipulation; clear and readable handwriting.

QUALIFICATIONS

Standard basketball rules & regulations. Techniques of supervising children during recreation activities. Modern office practices, procedures and equipment. Basic mathematics. Ability to: Work weekends (mainly Saturdays) and some weekday evenings. Work with children and adults during athletic activities and special events.

Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work. TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE Previous basketball scorekeeping / bookkeeping experience preferred but will train. Prior experience working with children in a group setting required.

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES Possession of a valid Driver's License, School ID, or State ID required.
