Senior Electrical Lead

  • HV, Protection and SCADA About the Employer Our client is an infrastructure engineering and construction contractor delivering transport, civil and energy projects. Its teams work across design, construction and project delivery in Australia. The Opportunity Lead electrical engineering governance from the Sydney office across high-voltage, protection and automation packages. Your remit spans bids, detailed design, procurement and commissioning, connecting equipment suppliers, designers and construction teams.

Your Responsibilities

  • Set the technical direction for HV plant, switchgear, substations, protection and SCADA systems.
  • Review designs and quality evidence, resolving interfaces between primary plant, secondary controls, communications and structures.
  • Develop bid-stage electrical scope and constructability solutions, including single-line diagram reviews and value improvements.
  • Assess supplier proposals, technical specifications and equipment compliance.
  • Coordinate network-provider interfaces, power-system inputs and commissioning assurance against Australian standards and grid requirements.

Requirements

Skills, Education and Requirements

  • An Electrical Engineering or Power Systems Engineering degree; CPEng or NER credentials are highly regarded.
  • At least eight years leading HV infrastructure, substations, protection or SCADA/automation on major infrastructure, rail or energy projects.
  • Strong knowledge of transformers, switchboards, secondary protection, SCADA architecture and PLC/RTU protocols.
  • Understanding of AS/NZS electrical standards, network connection requirements and power-system testing.
