Aftercare Staff

After Care Teacher � Part-Time St. Edward's Catholic School | Chillicothe, Illinois St. Edward's Catholic School is seeking a caring, dependable, and responsible After Care Teacher to provide a safe, welcoming, and engaging environment for students at the end of the school day. This position is a great fit for someone who enjoys working with children and can create a calm, positive atmosphere while supervising students of multiple ages.

Schedule: Monday�Friday, approximately 2:15�5:00 p.m. Part-time availability will also be considered, particularly for a Monday, Wednesday and/or Friday schedule .

Responsibilities

Provide attentive supervision of students in the after-school care program. Maintain a safe, caring, and well-managed environment consistent with the mission and values of St. Edward's Catholic School. Plan and facilitate simple, age-appropriate activities such as outdoor play, games, crafts, reading, and quiet activities.

Provide students with time and space to complete homework as appropriate. Establish and consistently reinforce clear expectations for student behavior. Support positive interactions among students of different ages. Supervise snack time and help students maintain a clean and organized space. Follow school procedures for student dismissal and ensure children are released only to authorized individuals.

Communicate effectively and professionally with students, families, teachers, and school administration. Maintain accurate attendance/check-out information. Follow all school safety, emergency, and student confidentiality procedures. Complete other duties related to the after-care program as needed.

Qualifications

Enjoy working with children and demonstrate patience, warmth, and good judgment. Be dependable and able to consistently arrive on time. Be comfortable independently supervising a group of children across multiple grade levels. Demonstrate strong classroom/group management skills and the ability to set clear, appropriate boundaries.

Take initiative and respond calmly and appropriately when problems arise. Communicate professionally with children, parents, and school staff. Support the mission and values of a Catholic school. Meet all Diocese of Peoria and St. Edward's requirements for employees working with children, including required background checks and safe-environment training.

Previous experience working with children is preferred but not required. Hours Approximately 2:15�5:00 p.m., Monday�Friday , following the school calendar. The exact end time may vary slightly based on student pick-up. Candidates who cannot commit to all five days are still encouraged to inquire. Part-time coverage will be considered, particularly Monday�Wednesday and/or Friday.

Minimum Qualifications

Must be at least 18 years of age Must be a high school graduate; associate's degree or higher preferred. Must participate in Safe Environment Training Must sign Witness Statement Must complete drug screening Must complete fingerprinting and CANTS check Hourly Rate: Starting at $15 per hour
