Safety & Risk Manager Position Summary The Safety & Risk Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing the organization's safety, loss prevention, and risk management programs. The primary objective of this role is to reduce the frequency and severity of claims, protect employees and company assets, and support the organization's overall financial and operational objectives through proactive risk management.

Key Responsibilities

Safety Management Develop and maintain comprehensive workplace safety programs and policies. Conduct regular site inspections and safety audits to identify and mitigate hazards. Lead accident prevention initiatives and promote a culture of safety throughout the organization. Coordinate employee safety training and ensure compliance with all applicable regulations and standards.

Investigate incidents, accidents, and near-miss events and implement corrective actions. Risk Management Analyze loss trends, claims activity, and emerging risks to identify opportunities for improvement. Work closely with insurance brokers, carriers, TPAs, and legal counsel in the management of claims. Oversee claims reporting, investigation, and resolution processes.

Monitor and evaluate retained losses and insurance program performance. Develop strategies to reduce claim frequency and improve loss outcomes. Insurance & Alternative Risk Financing Assist in the evaluation and structuring of insurance programs, retentions, captive strategies, and alternative risk transfer solutions.

Support underwriting submissions and insurance renewal processes. Provide data analysis and recommendations regarding retention levels, risk financing strategies, and cost of risk. Collaborate with finance and executive leadership to optimize the company's risk transfer approach. Compliance & Governance Ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory, safety, and industry requirements.

Maintain documentation, reporting, and recordkeeping related to safety and risk management activities. Develop and present risk management reports to senior leadership.

Qualifications

Experience in safety management, risk management, insurance, claims administration, or a related field. Strong understanding of workers' compensation, general liability, and casualty insurance programs. Experience working with brokers, insurers, TPAs, and claims management processes. Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Ability to develop and implement practical solutions that reduce the organization's total cost of risk. Success Measures Reduction in claim frequency and severity. Improvement in workplace safety metrics. Reduction in total cost of risk. Effective management of insurance and risk financing programs. Timely resolution of claims and risk-related issues.
