Job description
Take your critical care experience beyond the traditional bedside at Infinite Legacy Are you an experienced ICU, emergency department, critical care, respiratory care, paramedic, or other acute-care clinician looking to use your clinical expertise in a different way? As a Clinical Recovery Coordinator I (CRC I) with Infinite Legacy, you will play a critical role in the organ donation and transplantation process .
You’ll use your clinical judgment and acute-care experience to evaluate and clinically manage potential organ donors while coordinating the complex medical and logistical aspects of organ donation and recovery. Working alongside physicians, nurses, donor hospitals, transplant centers, surgical recovery teams, and other organ procurement professionals, you’ll help transform the gift of donation into the opportunity for renewed life through transplantation.
What You’ll Do As a Clinical Recovery Coordinator, you will manage the clinical and logistical aspects of the organ donation and organ recovery process , from initial donor evaluation through recovery. You will: Evaluate the medical suitability of potential organ and tissue donors using medical records, medical history, physical assessment, laboratory results, diagnostic testing, and current clinical status.
Collaborate with hospital medical teams and medical directors to coordinate the clinical management of potential organ donors . Request, monitor, and interpret laboratory and diagnostic testing used for donor evaluation and clinical management. Coordinate with transplant centers, donor services, surgical recovery teams, and other partners throughout the organ procurement and recovery process .
Help coordinate transportation, recovery logistics, operating room planning, documentation, and long-distance organ recoveries. Partner with Family Services Coordinators to support donor families with compassion and sensitivity and, when appropriate, participate in conversations regarding the opportunity for donation.
Serve as a clinical resource to hospital partners, donor families, and members of the multidisciplinary donation and transplantation team. Why Critical Care Clinicians Make Great CRCs The skills you have developed caring for critically ill patients translate directly to organ donation. If you have experience in an ICU, emergency department, critical care, respiratory care, paramedicine, or another high-acuity clinical environment , you already understand how to assess complex patients, interpret rapidly changing clinical information, prioritize competing needs, communicate with multidisciplinary teams, and remain calm when circumstances change quickly.
You do not need previous organ procurement experience to bring valuable clinical expertise to this role. Infinite Legacy provides specialized training to prepare qualified clinicians for the unique clinical, operational, and regulatory aspects of organ donation and recovery. Schedule & Work Environment Organ donation happens 24 hours a day, 7 days a week , and this position requires flexibility to support that mission.
Clinical Recovery Coordinators: Work 12-hour day and night shifts , including weekends and holidays. Typically work 36–48 hours per week . May have shifts extend beyond 12 hours because of travel or donation and recovery activity. Have opportunities to pick up additional shifts during periods of high activity or based on department needs.
Travel throughout Infinite Legacy’s Donor Service Area and participate in long-distance organ donor recoveries. Must be able to work and/or take call on days, nights, weekends, and holidays as required. This is a highly mobile, hands-on clinical position rather than a traditional Monday–Friday or bedside role.
Qualifications
We’re looking for clinicians who are comfortable working both independently and collaboratively in complex, high-acuity environments.
Qualifications
Current RN license or a college degree in a healthcare-related field preferred. An Associate’s degree in Respiratory Sciences or Paramedic Certification may be considered in lieu of an RN license. At least 2 years of emergency, critical care, or clinically equivalent experience . Ability to interact compassionately and professionally with families experiencing crisis while recognizing and respecting cultural differences.
Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, proof of insurance, and ability to meet Infinite Legacy’s insurability requirements. Ability to travel throughout Infinite Legacy’s Donor Service Area. Ability to independently lift and move objects weighing more than 40 pounds and perform the physical requirements associated with organ recovery activities.
Certified Procurement Transplant Coordinator (CPTC) certification is preferred after two years as a CRC I. Strong candidates will also bring excellent clinical judgment, communication, organization, problem-solving, time-management, collaboration, and stress-management skills. Vaccination Requirements Because Clinical Recovery Coordinators work in hospitals and other healthcare environments, employees must meet Infinite Legacy and applicable healthcare facility vaccination and health requirements, including COVID-19 and influenza vaccination requirements, as applicable.
