Mechanic

Qualifications

Strong diagnostic and repair abilities for diesel engines, small engines (chainsaws), hydraulic systems, and vehicle electrical systems. Preventative maintenance proficiency including fluids & filters, brake systems, and engine maintenance. Must maintain a clean and organized work environment. Strong time management and prioritization abilities.

Adaptability and comfort working in remote or uncertain conditions. Comfort level with computers, and computer-based diagnostics. CDL class A or B strongly preferred. Experience operating heavy equipment preferred. WA Boaters license a plus.

Key Responsibilities

Perform periodic inspections on all equipment and vehicles. Track maintenance tasks, schedules, and costs using fleet management software. Diagnose and repair breakdowns efficiently. Complete field repairs as needed, including travel to outer islands and remote job sites. Advise and assist in sourcing and procuring new vehicles/equipment.

Provide quarterly lifecycle and fleet condition reports using fleet management tools. Maintain and follow a shop budget. Maintain proper registration for all vehicles and equipment. Maintain an organized, clean, safe, and efficient shop environment. Organize and maintain tools, consumables, and parts inventories. Provide training for employees in basic routine maintenance and troubleshooting.

Ensure proper use of fleet management software and provide initial and ongoing training to employees.
