Job Title: Head Dance Coach; Temporary Work Site: Ashland High School Reports to: Principal Salary: $4,922 - $5,958 JOB SUMMARY Ashland High School is seeking a dedicated, energetic, and positive Head Dance Team Coach to transition our committed student dance club into an official, competitive program. The head coach is responsible for training, mentoring, and leading student-athletes while fostering a positive team culture focused on skill development, sportsmanship, and academic success.

This role includes instructing proper technique, managing practices, and overseeing performances at Grizzly athletic events, school functions, and regional competitions.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily with or without reasonable accommodation. Program Leadership: Structure, manage, and supervise all team practices, tryouts, and performance schedules. Instruction & Choreography: Teach proper dance technique, conditioning, and original choreography tailored for game-day half-time shows and state-level competitions.

Student Mentorship: Foster a supportive, character-driven environment that promotes accountability, builds student confidence, and helps athletes balance academic responsibilities. Safety & Compliance: Maintain a safe training environment, strictly adhere to the Standard Response Protocol (SRP), and ensure all emergency protocols and athlete clearances are maintained.

Department Collaboration: Coordinate performance dates, transport, and equipment needs in direct alignment with the Athletic Department and OSAA guidelines. Professional Communication: Maintain proactive, transparent, and professional communication with student-athletes, families, and high school administration. Prepares and submits to the building athletic coordinator a final season report that includes: Inventory of all supplies and equipment.

Records of the contests. Individual records of athletes for awards. A tentative budget projection for the next season. Complies with all athletic association regulations, league rules, and District policies. Attends coaching clinics as requested by building principal or athletic coordinator. Follows all specified standards, policies, and procedures of the building and Ashland School District.

Actively encourages student participation. Promotes the ethical value of athletics. Maintains a positive working relationship with the administration and community that enhances the sport. Provides proper care, maintenance, and security of facilities, equipment, and supplies from the first day of the season until the cycle of responsibility is completed.

Promotes concepts of sportsmanship. Develops positive health and safety standards for all athletes in the program. Attend work regularly and is punctual. Annually pass the District's required online training by the District's assigned due-date. While working collaboratively with others, implements decisions within ASD established policies and procedures.

Professionally represent the school and the District in interactions with parents, community, staff, and students and resolves conflict in a professional manner. QUALIFICATIONS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate with others, including understanding and being understood. While much of the work will be completed in an office environment, the employee will need to move between buildings, visiting sites throughout the district. This position may require some travel outside the district. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate but occasionally high depending upon activities.
