Position Title Workday Functional Consultant Location Troy, MI 48098 Job Summary The Workday Functional Consultant supports the continued optimization of our Workday platform and HR business processes. This role serves as a strategic liaison between Human Resources, business stakeholders, and technical teams, leveraging Workday expertise to assess business needs, evaluate solution options, and provide recommendations that improve operational effectiveness.

The role will facilitate requirements gathering, business process analysis, testing, reporting while partnering with HRIS developers and technical resources to implement approved solutions.

Job Responsibilities

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES Partner with HR Centers of Excellence and business stakeholders to understand business needs, evaluate current processes, and identify opportunities for improvement through Workday solutions. Gather, analyze, and document business, functional, and reporting requirements; develop business cases and solution recommendations that align with organizational objectives and Workday best practices.

Attend stakeholder meetings and discovery sessions to define requirements, evaluate options, and gain alignment on proposed solutions and process changes. Serve as a Workday subject matter expert by researching system capabilities, assessing impacts, and presenting recommendations, risks, and alternatives to business leaders and project teams.

Collaborate with HRIS developers, technical resources, and vendors to translate business requirements into functional specifications and support the successful delivery of approved solutions. Coordinate and support testing activities, including test planning, test script creation, user acceptance testing, defect tracking, and validation of system enhancements.

Stay informed of Workday releases, new functionality, and industry best practices, providing guidance on opportunities to enhance system utilization, employee experience, and operational efficiency. ADDITIONAL ACCOUNTABILITIES Performs special projects, and additional duties and responsibilities as required. Consistently adheres to regulatory and compliance policies and standards linked to the job as listed and complete required compliance training.

Accountable to maintain compliance with applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations. JOB REQUIREMENTS Required Qualifications: Education level required: Undergraduate Degree (4 years or equivalent) in Human Resources, Business Administration, Information Systems, Information Technology, or related field. Minimum experience required: 4+ Years of HRIS, HR Technology, or Business Systems experience.

Experience gathering and documenting business requirements and facilitating stakeholder discussions. Experience supporting testing activities, including UAT planning and execution.

Preferred Qualifications

3 years of Workday functional experience supporting Human Capital Management business processes. Experience supporting one or more Workday functional areas, including Core HCM, Recruiting, Talent, Learning, Compensation, Benefits, Payroll, or Absence. Experience participating in Workday implementations, optimization projects, or major enhancements.

Workday certifications or Workday training coursework preferred. Job Competencies: Strong understanding of Workday functionality and HR business process design. Excellent analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. Ability to evaluate multiple solution options and present recommendations to business stakeholders.

Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to influence and build consensus across varying levels of the organization. Ability to facilitate meetings and requirement gathering sessions. Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously. Proficiency in reporting, data analysis, and interpretation of workforce information.

Demonstrated ability to build trusted relationships and collaborate effectively with business and technical teams. Strong customer service orientation and commitment to delivering high-quality solutions. Demonstrates a strong ability to build and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders by communicating clearly, engaging in proactive collaboration, and leveraging cross functional insights.

Aligns relationship building efforts with enterprise goals to accelerate performance and drive strategic results. Builds trusted client relationships, whether internal or external, by identifying needs and delivering tailored solutions to enhance the overall client experience. Fosters or supports a positive work culture and productive work environment, displaying importance of effective relationships with customers and stakeholders.
