Bus Drivers

Bus Driver: Position Summary: School bus drivers are responsible for transporting district students safely and efficiently between their homes and respective schools. Bus drivers also transport students on approved school field trips, to athletic events, between the area vocational schools and the high school and other related assignments.

Functions/Duties/Responsibilities a. Transport students on regular bus routes and special trips as assigned by the transportation office. b. Conduct regular safety drills. c. Safely execute all duties. d. Participate in all training and testing as required by federal, state, and local authorities. e. Monitor students in transport and maintain order per school policy and authority.

f. Report to the Supervisor of Transportation, the names of students who violate district policy for school bus riders g. Operate a vehicle in such a manner and abide by all traffic and safety rules so as to protect the safety of students. h. Report all possible repair needs. i. Report all accidents regardless of how minor.

j. Clean vehicle interior as needed (weekly at a minimum). k. Provide services so as to comply with federal, state, and local requirements. l. Perform all safety inspections/tasks as required and recommended by federal, state, and local departments, as well as district policies and procedures. m. Participate in random drug and alcohol testing.

n. Keep current on all certifications, driver license, and physical. o. Perform such other duties that may be assigned by the Supervisor of Transportation. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Must be able to hear (40 decibel maximum) and verbally communicate. Work Environment: The noise level in this environment is quiet to loud, depending on the activity in the particular part of the day.

Ability to stand, bend, stoop, sit, lift, reach, communicate (vision, hearing, and speech), carry, or convey sufficient weight to safely and effectively carry out functions, duties, and responsibilities. b. Ability to independently ambulate in and around school buildings and office areas.
