Job Details: Salary Range: Undisclosed, SUMMARY Provide direct supportive services to mothers and their children who are placed in the Center’s emergency shelter or tenants residing in supportive housing. Ensure the safety of all occupants by following policies and protocols. Ensure the shelter and/or common areas remain organized and clean.

Interact with guests, tenants, volunteers, donors, and colleagues in a manner that is truthful, respectful, and projects a positive image of the organization. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES (Other duties may be assigned) Assists guests with housing searches: provide resources for searches; ensure housing search documentation is complete and accurate; assist with completing housing applications and ensure they are complete and accurate.

Monitors meals: ensure all components for dinner are provided; oversee cooking and lend assistance if needed; ensure the dining room and kitchen are completely clean after meals. Monitors children’s activities: ensure all children are being supervised by moms; if craft or game items are signed out, make sure they are returned in working order, and the play/craft area is clean before the end of a shift.

Children are only permitted to use craft items when they are directly supervised by moms or volunteers. Monitors the coming and going of shelter by ensuring guests complete sign-out logs and school attendance logs. Ensures food and drink are had only in the kitchen or dining areas; if needed, families may use the 3rd floor conference room for meals.

Ensures food and drink are NOT in living areas on the 2nd or 3rd floors nor in the playroom. Children must be supervised and may not run through the building. Mothers should be responsible for their children’s messes; however, if they neglect to do so, it is the PA’s responsibility that areas are clean by the end of the shift.

If mothers need assistance, take advantage of a teaching moment to ensure cleaning is complete and appropriate products are used. In the case of snow and ice, shovel snow from around the main entrance on John St. and the emergency exit on Third Street. In the case of ice, please monitor the weather and spread salt at both entrances and from the John St.

entrance to the parking lot. Remain informed of tenant service plans and address items related to the position's areas of responsibility (i.e. assistance with instrumental activities of daily living). Update tenant charts with referrals, complete contact notes regarding services delivered. Work with the team to organize in-services, knowledge-building workshops, and creative activities to engage tenants.

Keep the Community Room's activity calendar filled with activities that engage tenants. In the case of snow and ice, shovel snow from around the main entrance and tenants' entrance. In the case of ice, please monitor the weather and spread salt at both entrances. Assists guests/tenants in completing forms required for referrals to other agencies.

Reviews the PA binder at the start of shifts and completes required documentation for each shift. Performs rounds of both floors hourly. Ensures all areas are clean and organized, which may involve providing reminders to guests or tenants, or assisting with cleanup. Maintains order and safety for all residents. On-call is notified of any serious concerns that need immediate intervention; on-call is notified in the case of physical fights, after calling 911 for police intervention.

Document all occurrences in shift notes. Ensures the following areas are clean: floors, stairs, kitchen appliances, counters, dishes, dining tables. If crafts were used, ensure the crafting area, including floors and walls are clean. Ensure trash is removed by the end of shift. To ensure illnesses are not transmitted, ensure that all stair railings and flat surfaces have been cleaned with a disinfectant after use and, at minimum, by the end of shifts.

Complete maintenance request forms to inform the property manager of needed attention. EXPERIENCE Shelter work preferred but not required.
