Job Summary
The Forensic Engineering Laboratory Technician provides essential laboratory support for our testifying experts across all disciplines. The individual manages evidence intake, maintains chain-of-custody documentation, obtains and documents testing samples and exemplars, operates laboratory instrumentation, and manages and fulfills equipment requests for off-site inspections and testing.
Responsibilities
Ensure rigorous chain-of-custody for all samples from field collection through laboratory testing and final disposition Maintain, inspect, and replenish all field investigation equipment including cameras, lighting, PPE, evidence collection kits, and scene documentation tools Photograph evidence and laboratory work systematically for inclusion in investigation reports and demonstrative exhibits Manage laboratory equipment calibration schedules, equipment maintenance programs, and capital equipment procurement planning Assist with equipment calibration verification, maintenance logs, and calibration record-keeping Maintain laboratory workspace cleanliness, organization, equipment logs, and safety compliance per laboratory safety plan and OSHA requirements.
Other related projects as needed.
Qualifications
Education
Associate's degree or Bachelor's degree in a scientific or technical field Computer Skills : Proficiency in MS Office Suite, experience with any of the following is desirable: MATLAB, CAD software, and 3D printing. Office Skills : Excellent organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail. Able to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Communication Skills : Strong written and verbal communication skills. Abilities : Hands-on experience and ability to operate mills, lathes, cutting equipment, welding equipment, and other fabrication equipment and processes is desirable. Work Style : Must be able to work onsite at our lab with occasional field assignments as needed.
Other: A clean background screen, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to drive passenger cars and light trucks.
