Tree Production II Location: Farmington Schedule: Full-Time | Outdoor Production Role Compensation: $17 - $18.21 DOE The Role Devil Mountain Wholesale Nursery is seeking experienced Tree Production II team members to support plant production within the nursery. This role is responsible for shifting plants from smaller containers to larger containers as plants grow, using proper transplanting techniques to maintain plant health and production quality.
Tree Production II employees work as part of the nursery production team and help ensure plants are handled carefully and production standards are maintained. Tree Production II team members bring additional experience to the department and help reinforce proper techniques by supporting the training and development of Tree Production I employees.
What You’ll Do Shift plant material from smaller containers to larger containers as plants grow Follow proper planting techniques including root pruning, correct planting depth, and proper irrigation practices Identify plant material and maintain plant quality during the shifting process Assist with stocking and organizing trees after shifting is completed Support training and guidance for Tree Production I employees by demonstrating proper techniques Operate equipment as needed to support production tasks Utilize and maintain required personal protective equipment (PPE) and company equipment Maintain cleanliness, organization, and safe conditions within nursery production areas Handle nursery stock carefully and ensure plants are watered and placed in appropriate locations Assist other nursery departments and support general nursery operations when needed What You Bring Required Ability to identify plant material and recognize plant quality standards Ability to follow proper planting and transplanting techniques Ability to safely operate basic nursery equipment Ability to work effectively within a team environment Preferred Previous experience working in a nursery, landscape, or agricultural environment Experience shifting plants or working in plant production operations Experience operating tractors, RTVs, or similar nursery equipment Work Environment & Expectations This is a physically demanding outdoor production role performed in active nursery environments.
Work conditions include varying weather conditions, uneven ground surfaces, active equipment and vehicle traffic, and exposure to dust, plant material, soil, moisture, and seasonal allergens. Required personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn as applicable. Physical requirements include: Extensive walking throughout the nursery during the workday Frequent bending, twisting, turning, squatting, kneeling, and crouching Working on uneven surfaces including dirt, gravel, plant material, and irrigated areas Use of hands and fingers for grasping and handling plant material Lifting up to 50 lbs independently (approximately 75% of the time) Participating in team lifts up to 100 lbs (approximately 25% of the time) If you're an experienced production team member who takes pride in plant quality, safe work practices, and supporting efficient nursery operations, we’d like to speak with you.
