Job description
Key Responsibilities
● Design and own the optometry excellence framework — setting standards for clinical protocols, refraction quality, and patient experience across all Lenskart touchpoints. ● Lead end-to-end program management for optometry training, certification, and continuous professional development initiatives at scale. ● Collaborate with academic institutions, professional bodies (COI, IOIA), and industry experts to benchmark best practices.
● Drive audits, assessments, and quality reviews across stores; build data-driven dashboards to track optometry KPIs and clinical outcomes. ● Identify skill gaps across the optometry workforce and design targeted upskilling programs — e-learning, blended formats, and clinical workshops. ● Lead a team of regional optometry trainers and clinical coordinators; coach and mentor for professional growth.
● Partner with product, technology, and retail operations teams to integrate clinical standards into store workflows and digital tools. ● Represent Lenskart in external forums, conferences, and academic tie-ups to strengthen optometry thought leadership. Continuous Improvement Projects The role has direct ownership of structured CI initiatives that elevate clinical quality, operational efficiency, and professional standards across Lenskart's optometry network.
● Refraction Accuracy Programme — Establish baseline metrics, run periodic audits, and lead root-cause analysis cycles to systematically improve refraction accuracy scores network-wide. ● Competency Certification Ladder — Design and iterate a tiered competency framework for optometrists, from entry-level to advanced practitioner, with structured assessments and recognition pathways.
● Eye Exam NPS Improvement — Identify experience gaps through patient feedback data, co-design SOPs with store teams, and track NPS improvement across the clinical touchpoint. ● Clinical SOP Review Cycle — Lead quarterly review and update cycles for all clinical SOPs, incorporating field learnings, technology changes, and evolving clinical evidence.
● Digital Refraction Tool Adoption — Drive adoption of autorefractors, digital phoropters, and tech-assisted eye exam tools, including training rollout, compliance tracking, and outcome measurement. ● Training Impact Measurement — Build Kirkpatrick-aligned evaluation frameworks to link learning outcomes directly to on-floor clinical performance metrics.
Eligibility ● B.Optom / M.Optom from a recognised university; advanced certification in clinical optometry or healthcare management is a plus. ● Minimum 10 years of experience in the optometry domain with demonstrable progression into a senior or leadership role. ● Must have held one or more of: a management role in optometry/eyecare operations; Assistant Professor or above in an optometry institution; or a senior role in optometry training / L&D.
● Deep clinical grounding in refraction, contact lens practice, binocular vision, and low vision; familiarity with quality systems and clinical audits preferred. Skills & Competencies ● Strong program management skills — ability to plan, execute, and track large-scale initiatives across geographies. ● Excellent communication and facilitation skills across leadership, academic, and store-floor audiences.
● Data fluency — ability to interpret clinical and operational metrics and translate insights into action. ● Experience designing curriculum or structured learning journeys; instructional design knowledge is a plus. ● Hands-on experience leading CI projects using Lean, PDCA, Six Sigma, or equivalent methodologies. ● Strong stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration skills.
● Entrepreneurial mindset — comfortable building processes from the ground up in a fast-moving environment.
