Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced communications leader to head the Communications function for Tetra Pak in Latin America. As Communications Director, you will be a trusted business partner responsible for delivering strategic internal and external communications across the region, including Southern Cone, Andina, Central America and Mexico.
You will work closely with market leadership teams to support business priorities and strengthen Tetra Pak’s reputation among key stakeholders. Leading a small team and a network of external agencies, you will ensure that communications initiatives deliver measurable outcomes and are aligned with the company’s global communications strategy.
You will also serve as a company spokesperson when required and report to the Vice President of Market Communications. The role requires approximately 25–30% travel. The successful candidate can be based in Bogota, Colombia; Polanco, Mexico or Panama City, Panama.
What you will do
Lead communications across three core areas: internal communications; reputation management and public relations; and marketing communications; Lead the annual communications planning process, coordinating input from business strategy, marketing, sustainability, corporate affairs and other key functions; Develop an integrated communications plan that supports the markets’ business priorities and objectives while aligning with the company’s global communications strategy; Drive the implementation of the communications plan, ensuring high-quality delivery and measurable, outcome-based performance; Protect and strengthen the company’s reputation across the region through proactive public relations, effective issues management and strong crisis preparedness; Lead crisis communications and coordinate the communications response when a crisis occurs; Act as a trusted business partner and provide timely, strategic communications counsel to Managing Directors and their leadership teams across the region; Contribute actively to the Global Communications Leadership Team; Lead the regional Communications function with a strong focus on impact, agility, excellence, effectiveness and efficiency; Manage the function’s resources, including people, agencies, budgets, tools and data, while building a capable, motivated and engaged team.
We believe you have A bachelor’s degree in communications or a related field. An MBA or other relevant postgraduate qualification is preferred; 10–15 years of relevant communications experience, including experience in a senior leadership role; A strong track record of delivering effective communications in a fast-paced, complex and international business environment; Excellent leadership capabilities, with experience in building, motivating and developing high-performing teams; Strong business acumen and the ability to translate business priorities into clear communications strategies and plans; Demonstrated experience in managing senior stakeholders and providing trusted counsel to senior leaders; Experience coaching leaders and supporting them through business transformation and organisational change; A proactive, pragmatic and results-oriented approach, combined with sound judgement and close attention to detail; The ability to work effectively across diverse teams, cultures and markets; Excellent writing, public speaking and presentation skills in English and the relevant local language or languages; Strong organisational skills, intellectual curiosity and the ability to assimilate complex information quickly and propose effective solutions; Proficiency in digital tools, including artificial intelligence and Power BI, together with a working understanding of marketing communications tools such as marketing automation platforms; The confidence to challenge constructively, remain open-minded and turn ideas into action.
