Custodial Host/Hostess

Space Center Houston is a space exploration learning destination dedicated to revealing how science and humanity power space exploration through meaningful, moving experiences about people and the courage, innovation, and teamwork they use to expand the boundaries of what's possible. Owned and operated by the nonprofit Manned Space Flight Education Foundation, we are the Official Visitor Center of NASA Johnson Space Center and a Smithsonian affiliate. We are currently seeking a Full-Time Custodial Host/Hostess , responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment throughout the facility.

This position uses proper cleaning equipment, products, techniques, and procedures to maintain building cleanliness during daily operations and special events.

Responsibilities

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES: Maintain assigned areas in a safe, clean, and orderly condition. Follow standard operating procedures and established cleaning methods to consistently maintain areas of responsibility. Respond promptly to custodial needs, spills, and other cleanliness or safety concerns as they occur. Properly use and maintain cleaning equipment, supplies, and cleaning products.

Provide a positive guest experience by greeting and interacting with guests in a friendly, professional manner. Know and follow all emergency, safety, and evacuation procedures. Complete required hourly and daily custodial reports accurately. Communicate effectively and cooperate with fellow crew members to ensure efficient operation of assigned areas.

Assist team members with shared custodial duties and responsibilities as needed. Help ensure the facility is thoroughly cleaned and maintained during daily operations and special events. Other duties and special projects as assigned. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS: Basic knowledge of cleaning equipment, cleaning products, and proper cleaning techniques.

Previous custodial, housekeeping, hospitality, or related experience is a plus, but not required. Service-oriented with strong customer service skills and a positive attitude. Ability to communicate clearly and follow instructions accurately. Punctual, dependable, and able to work with little or no supervision. Strong attention to detail and the ability to recognize and respond to custodial or safety concerns.

Team player with a willingness to assist others as needed. Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events. Must pass applicable drug screening and background check. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT: Ability to safely lift, carry, push, and pull up to 35 lbs. repeatedly. Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time.

Ability to kneel, bend, stoop, reach, and work at floor level as necessary. Ability to maneuver safely through crowded public and event areas. Ability to perform repetitive physical tasks associated with custodial work. Ability to work around cleaning products and operate standard custodial equipment safely. Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and event schedules as needed.
