Position Description The University of Saint Joseph invites applications for a 12-month, non-tenure-track faculty position in the Department of Pharmacy Practice and Administration at the rank of Assistant Professor. We seek a pharmacist who is committed to teaching and mentoring Doctor of Pharmacy students and who will contribute to the School through scholarship and service appropriate to the appointment.
The position may be structured as teaching-focused or include clinical practice responsibilities at an affiliated practice site, depending on the candidate’s background and the school’s needs. We are particularly seeking candidates with expertise in one or more of the following areas: Internal medicine, including psychiatry, respiratory disorders, infectious diseases, and gastrointestinal conditions Community pharmacy Pharmacy administration, health systems practice, or pharmacy law and policy Candidates do not need experience in every area listed.
We welcome applicants from different practice settings who can bring their expertise to the PharmD curriculum.
Responsibilities include
(but are not limited to): Development and delivery of high-quality didactic, lab and/or experiential pharmacy courses Engagement in scholarly research activities, publications, and presentations Mentorship and advisement to pharmacy students Participation in departmental and university service activities Collaboration with interdisciplinary teams to enhance pharmacy education and practice Requirements Doctor of Pharmacy degree (PharmD) from an accredited institution Licensure/eligibility for licensure, in the State of Connecticut Completion of a residency program (PGY1 and/or PGY2) or equivalent experience Demonstrated potential for scholarly research and publications Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills Preferred Qualifications Board certification in a pharmacy specialty Prior teaching experience in an academic setting Experience with innovative teaching methodologies and technology-enhanced learning The successful candidate will support the School’s mission by delivering high-quality teaching in the Doctor of Pharmacy curriculum, contributing to curriculum development and assessment, and mentoring students.
Candidates with clinical training may maintain a practice site and serve as preceptors for pharmacy students. Faculty are encouraged to engage in scholarship and service activities aligned with their expertise and institutional goals.
