Island Cats Veterinary Hospital is seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our dedicated team. This is an excellent opportunity for an outgoing, compassionate assistant with strong technical and client-service skills who thrives on building meaningful connections with both cats and their people.

In this role, you will:

  • Provide exceptional patient and client care while maintaining an efficient exam room flow
  • Accurately document patient care and maintain detailed medical records
  • Review treatment plans and discharge instructions with clients, answering questions with empathy and clarity
  • Support the veterinarian and technicians during outpatient care and procedures to ensure the highest level of feline-focused medicine

This is a full-time position with a 4/10 schedule and availability needed M-F. If you’re a skilled Veterinary Assistant who’s passionate about cats and looking for a balanced, no-weekend schedule, we’d love to hear from you!

Full-time benefits and compensation:**

  • Compensation: $20 - $22 per hour, for each hour worked*
  • Bonus package: $500 for those with 3+ years of consecutive, current VA experience

Preferred qualifications and skill set:

  • 2+ years of veterinary assistant experience in a clinical setting

  • A passion for feline medicine and exceptional client service

  • Proficiency in the following skills:

  • Exam room assistance and client communication

  • Surgical set-up and assisting

  • Venipuncture and sample collection

  • Radiology positioning and technique

  • Gentle feline restraint and the ability to understand and interpret feline body language
