Position Overview

The Commercial & Agricultural Credit Specialist is responsible for analyzing financial information, assessing credit risk, and providing recommendations that support decision-making across consumer, agricultural, and commercial portfolios. This role partners closely with internal teams and leadership to ensure consistent, data-driven decisions aligned with North Star’s standards.

What You’ll Do Analyze financial statements, tax returns, and credit reports to assess risk Prepare detailed credit presentations and recommendations for financing requests Evaluate cash flow, debt service coverage, collateral, and overall financial strength Monitor existing relationships and identify emerging risks Partner with internal stakeholders to structure solutions that balance member needs with sound risk management Ensure compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements Support portfolio reporting, trend analysis, and overall credit quality reviews What You Bring Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience) 3+ years of experience in credit analysis, financial services, or related field preferred Strong understanding of financial statements and cash flow analysis Ability to interpret and communicate complex financial data clearly High attention to detail and strong organizational skills Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial analysis tools Ability to work collaboratively and manage multiple priorities What Sets You Apart Experience with agricultural or commercial credit analysis Familiarity with a credit union or financial services environment Strong critical thinking and decision-making skills Commitment to delivering a high level of service aligned with the North Star Way Why Join North Star At North Star, we know our employees are the foundation of our success.
