Hiring Unit: Department of Human Genetics Course Title: Beyond the Human Genome Course Code: HGEN 663 Estimated Number of Positions: 1 Total Hours of Work per Term: 100 Position Summary: This course is based on introduction of topics in human genetics that rely on the analysis of next generation sequencing data, followed by hands on analysis of example datasets.

The Teaching Assistant will lead tutorials in R and Python computer programming languages, prepare and grade programming assignments for the class. The teaching assistant will lead discussion during the lecture period.

Qualifications

Strong background in Genomics and Bioinformatics, with emphasis on the use of R-packages for analysis of next generation sequencing data. Strong programming skills in Python and R. Understanding of DNA sequencing, transcriptomics, and epigenomics. A Teaching Assistant is a Graduate Student at the Master’s or Doctoral level, at Mc.

Gill University, employed to assist a course coordinator. Understanding applications of genomics and analyses that are specific to solving current problems in human genetics, such as causative variant identification, gene expression analysis, classification, integrative analysis of multidimensional datasets. Language Requirements (if relevant): Effective communication skills in English are essential.
