Role Overview: Product Governance Oversight Provide Product Governance oversight, review and challenge across the product lifecycle, ensuring activities are completed in line with the Product Governance Framework and supported by sufficient, appropriate and timely evidence. Assess product governance submissions and supporting evidence, providing constructive challenge where conclusions are not adequately evidenced, risks remain unresolved, or customer outcomes may be adversely impacted.
Support governance forums and decision-making through robust analysis, challenge and reporting. Product Lifecycle Governance Provide Product Governance review and challenge across all stages of the product lifecycle, including: New Product Approvals Product Changes Product Launch Readiness Distribution Oversight In-Life Monitoring Annual Product Reviews Fair Value Assessments Closed Book Products Product Withdrawals Ensure governance requirements are appropriately applied, evidence is robust, customer outcomes are considered and decisions are supported by a clear rationale.
Fair Value & Customer Outcomes Review and challenge Annual Product Reviews, Fair Value Assessments and customer outcome assessments to determine whether products continue to meet customer needs and deliver fair value. Identify emerging risks, foreseeable harms or areas of customer detriment, recommending actions and escalating concerns where appropriate.
Represent the voice of the customer through constructive challenge and evidence-based decision making. Data Analysis & Insight Use quantitative and qualitative data to assess product performance, customer outcomes and fair value. Interrogate and challenge product, claims, complaints, conduct and customer outcome MI. Identify trends, emerging risks and areas of potential customer detriment.
Translate complex data into clear governance insights and recommendations. Support evidence-based challenge and decision making through robust analysis. Documentation Governance Review and challenge outcome-critical customer documentation and communications, including policy wordings, IPIDs and other material customer-facing documentation, ensuring customer impacts are appropriately considered, evidenced and escalated through the relevant governance route where required.
Regulatory Expertise & Stakeholder Support Apply strong working knowledge of FCA PROD, Consumer Duty and ICOBS requirements to support effective product governance across the business. Provide pragmatic guidance and challenge to Product, Underwriting, Pricing, Claims, Operations, Compliance and Risk teams, helping ensure good customer outcomes remain at the centre of product decisions.
Essential Skills & Experience Experience working within Product Governance, Product Management, Risk, Compliance or another regulated environment. Strong understanding of FCA PROD, Consumer Duty and product governance principles. Experience supporting or conducting Product Reviews, Fair Value Assessments or similar governance activities.
Strong analytical capability with the ability to interrogate, interpret and challenge complex datasets and management information. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including data manipulation, trend analysis, reporting and working with large datasets. Experience using data and MI to assess customer outcomes, fair value and product performance.
Ability to identify emerging risks and provide evidence-based challenge and recommendations. Strong stakeholder management, influencing and communication skills. Excellent report writing, presentation and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines. Desirable Skills & Experience General insurance experience.
Experience using Power BI or similar business intelligence and visualisation tools. Experience producing dashboards and customer outcome reporting. Knowledge of distribution oversight and fair value monitoring. Experience presenting governance findings to committees and senior stakeholders.
