Job description

As a Room Technician/Handy Person , you’re not just performing daily guest room maintenance– you’re spreading the light and warmth of hospitality by delivering memorable experiences that make the stay for every guest.
Here's what you'll do during a typical day: Perform preventive and corrective maintenance: Carry out daily maintenance, repairs, and preventive maintenance in guest rooms, public areas, back-of-house areas, and hotel facilities. Respond to maintenance requests: Attend to work orders and guest-related maintenance requests promptly, ensuring issues are resolved efficiently and with minimal disruption to hotel operations.
Carry out general repairs: Perform basic electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, tiling, and other general maintenance tasks as required. Maintain guest rooms and facilities: Ensure guest rooms, corridors, public areas, and equipment are maintained in good working condition and meet hotel standards. Support HVAC and equipment maintenance: Assist with basic inspection, troubleshooting, and maintenance of air-conditioning systems, equipment, and other hotel facilities.
Conduct regular inspections: Identify potential defects, safety hazards, or maintenance issues and report them promptly to the Engineering team. Maintain tools and equipment: Ensure all tools, equipment, and maintenance areas are kept clean, safe, and in good working condition. Manage maintenance materials: Monitor appropriate stock levels of maintenance supplies, spare parts, and replacement items and report shortages when required.
Ensure safety compliance: Follow hotel safety procedures, safe working practices, and relevant health and safety requirements at all times. Support special projects: Assist with ad hoc maintenance tasks, hotel projects, renovations, and departmental initiatives as needed. Work collaboratively: Support other Engineering team members and hotel departments to ensure smooth and uninterrupted hotel operations.
Previous experience in hotel engineering, facilities maintenance, building maintenance, or a similar role is preferred. Basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, HVAC, and general maintenance . Ability to troubleshoot and carry out basic repairs safely and efficiently. Good understanding of health, safety, and workplace practices .
Ability to use basic hand tools and maintenance equipment. Good communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively with different departments. Guest-focused and service-oriented , with a professional and helpful approach when working in guest areas. Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and respond to maintenance requests in a timely manner.
Flexible to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays according to hotel operational requirements. Physically able to perform maintenance duties, including standing, walking, bending, lifting, and working in different areas of the hotel. Relevant technical/vocational certification or qualification is an advantage.
