WFS Data Modeler
Job description
Main Purpose As a Data Modeler, you will be responsible for designing and implementing conceptual, logical, and physical data models that support WFS’s cloud-native architecture. You will work cross-functionally with data engineers, analysts, and product teams to translate business requirements into scalable data structures, ensuring performance, consistency, and compliance across the data ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities
Design and maintain conceptual, logical, and physical data models. Implement models across AWS services (Redshift, RDS, S3, Glue, DynamoDB) Establish and enforce data modelling standards, naming conventions, and metadata practices. Collaborate with business stakeholders to translate needs into efficient data structures.
Optimize data models for performance, scalability, and cost-efficiency in the cloud. Ensure data integrity, lineage, and governance through modelling best practices. Support secure, compliant, and well-documented data architecture design. Participate in data integration and transformation efforts across systems. Maintain and update ER diagrams, data dictionaries, and related documentation.
Requirements
Key Competencies Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, Data Science, or related. 3+ years of hands-on experience in data modelling and architecture. Strong command of AWS data services: Redshift, RDS, S3, Glue, Athena, DynamoDB. Proficient in SQL and data modelling tools (ER/Studio, ERwin, dbt, etc.)
Experience with relational, dimensional, and NoSQL modelling. Understanding of streaming platforms (e.g., Kafka, Kinesis). Experience with data warehouse and Lakehouse architectures. Familiar with Agile methodologies and cross-functional team collaboration. Additional Experience Hands-on experience with Confluent Cloud and Kafka.
Understanding of data governance frameworks and cataloguing tools. Exposure to CI/CD, Terraform, and DataOps pipelines. AWS certification (e.g., Data Analytics or Solutions Architect) is a plus. Key Competencies Excellent communication and documentation skills. Ability to simplify complex data concepts for diverse audiences.
