Associate Product Manager - Mission Systems
Job description
We are looking for an Associate Product Manager to lead our responses to RFIs, RFPs, EOIs and tenders, and to shape the mission solutions behind them. You will own each bid from qualification to submission, making sure it is technically sound, compliant, commercially credible and on time. The focus is space and satellite missions, along with ground segment, satellite data and adjacent aerospace work.
Mission design and systems engineering skills matter most: you should be able to turn customer needs into a workable mission concept, run first-cut analysis yourself and explain it clearly. You will work across customers, engineering, product, management and leadership.
Key Responsibilities
Run first-cut mission analysis (coverage, revisit, access, ground contacts, lifetime) in STK, GMAT, Orekit or Python, verify it and script repetitive tasks. Track opportunities in the space domain and recommend bid/no-bid decisions. Run the proposal process end to end: bid plan, compliance matrix, RFI, RFPs, reviews, pricing input s and submission.
Translate customer requirements into a mission concept covering objectives , payload (EO, SAR, communications, IoT), orbit and constellation, ground segment and data products. Prepare system budgets, trade studies, architectures, Con. Ops and traceability, plus cost, schedule and risk estimates with engineering and finance.
Write technical volumes, executive summaries and white papers, backed by clear diagrams and coverage visuals. Maintain the proposal library and handle clarifications and post-submission queries.
Requirements
Qualifications Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Aerospace , Electronics/Communication, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, Physics or a related field. At least 2 years in mission solutions, systems engineering, proposal management or technical product management in space, aerospace or defence , including hands-on RFI/RFP/tender responses.
Working knowledge of mission design: orbital mechanics, orbit selection, coverage and revisit, payloads, link budgets and ground segment architecture. Solid systems engineering grounding: requirements flow-down, architecture, interfaces, trade studies, system budgets and verification. Hands-on use of STK, GMAT or Orekit , and enough Python to write analysis scripts and plot results.
Clear, concise technical writing, the organisation to run parallel bids against hard deadlines, and confidence presenting to customers and leadership. Good To Have MATLAB; familiarity with ECSS, NASA SE Handbook or INCOSE practices and MBSE tools ( SysML , Cameo, Capella). Experience with government, defence or space agency procurement and tender portals.
Shipley, APMP or equivalent proposal training. Understanding of costing, pricing and contract terms for space or technology work. Exposure to downstream applications (satellite data, analytics, ground station services) or to product management.
Benefits
The chance to shape space missions from concept to contract award, working directly with customers and leadership. A multidisciplinary team across systems, payload, platform, ground segment, software and business development. Fair compensation will be provided as per market standards. Experience rapid growth and start-up culture.
Open to exploring, discussing and implementing new ideas and processes.
