Job description
As a Lead Mechanical Design Engineer at Honeywell Aerospace, you will play a critical role in leading and overseeing the mechanical design process to develop innovative and efficient mechanical solutions for our products and systems. You will be responsible for providing technical expertise, guidance, and mentorship to the mechanical design team, ensuring the successful execution of projects and the delivery of high-quality designs.
Key Responsibilities
Design and analysis (thermal, structural, weight, tolerance) using finite element analysis and classical hand calculation methods Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and training to junior engineers Task and schedule planning as lead for mechanical design, tooling, and documentation Project coordination Project and product compliance to specification, schedule, and cost Collaborate with and/or direct machinists, technicians, assemblers, and suppliers to execute hardware builds and tests Process development and continuous improvement Root cause and corrective action Conduct design reviews, generate and review Engineering Change Orders (ECO), participate as a member of Configuration Control Board (CCB) Generate basis of estimates for bids and technical proposals YOU MUST HAVE Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as the sciences, technology, engineering, or mathematics Minimum of 8 years of experience designing and performing structural and thermo-mechanical analysis on electro-mechanical packaging Proficiency in static, fatigue (HCF & LCF), modal, shock, random vibration & thermal heat transfer analyses Strong working knowledge of finite element software (ANSYS, Simcenter, Solid.
Works) & classical hand calculation methods WE VALUE Minimum of 10 years of experience designing and performing structural and thermo-mechanical analysis on electro-mechanical packaging in aerospace and defense Practical knowledge of finite element analysis software (ANSYS, Simcenter, Solid. Works) Ability to lead, motivate, develop and mentor others Significant experience with new product development and operations sustainment Ability to analyze and solve complex and challenging problems Self-motivated individuals Effectively operate in a matrix organization Track record of successful contribution to products and projects Keen mindset to envision process improvements and execution of such initiatives Ability to consistently make timely decisions in a fast-paced and/or ambiguous environment Excellent written and verbal communication skills US PERSONS REQUIREMENT Due to compliance with U.
S. export control laws and regulations, candidate must be a U.S. person, which is defined as, a U.S. citizen, a U.S. permanent resident, or have protected status in the U.S. under asylum or refugee status. The annual base salary range for this position in California is $143,000-158,000. Please note that this salary information serves as a general guideline.
