Description Ultrasound Technologist – PRN Michigan Institute of Urology Location: 1910 Hall Road, Macomb Township, MI Michigan Institute of Urology is seeking a PRN Ultrasound Technologist to provide coverage at our Macomb Township location. This position will support our urology team and provide coverage for staffing needs, including vacations, call-offs, and other scheduled absences.
The anticipated need is approximately 8–16 hours per week , depending on coverage needs. This is a PRN position and is not a traditional full-time position .

Associate’s degree in Ultrasound Technology or a related field Demonstrated prior experience performing ultrasound examinations Experience with urologic conditions and urologic pathologies Strong clinical and patient-care skills Ability to work independently and as part of a clinical team GENERAL SUMMARY The Ultrasound Technologist responsibilities include using sonographic equipment to record images of patients for diagnostic purposes.
Performs sonographic examinations to locate, evaluate and record critical functional, pathological, and anatomical data. Records test results, inspects and maintains equipment, and orders supplies when needed.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION/COMPETENCIES Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Select and examine images, search for differences between healthy and pathological areas and determine if the scope of the exam should be extended based on preliminary findings. Present the sonograms and preliminary findings to Physicians.
Complete the appropriate documentation and maintain patients’ medical records. Assist Physicians and healthcare teams during invasive procedures. Maintain and clean the sonographic equipment. Perform medical procedures, such as administering oxygen, taking vital signs and giving emergency treatments. Select and examine images, search for differences between healthy and pathological areas and determine if the scope of the exam should be extended based on preliminary findings.
Present the sonograms and preliminary findings to Physicians. Complete the appropriate documentation and maintain patients’ medical records. Assist Physicians and healthcare teams during invasive procedures. Assist in the care and handling of equipment including maintaing and cleaning the sonographic equipment. Perform medical care as needed, such as administering oxygen, taking vital signs and giving emergency treatments.
Insert patient information and personal data into the computer to maintain examination records. Assess the patient’s physical, psychological and educational needs in order to obtain appropriate history prior to each exam. Explains process to patient, instructs and assists patient in to position for exam. Monitor images for quality and adjusted as needed.
Record optimal anatomical images that are transferred to the PACS system, disc, strip printout or film to obtain a permanent record. Provide relevant technical information about the patient and exam to facilitate in the interpretation of the study by the radiologist. Performs other position related duties as assigned.
Employees shall adhere to high standards of ethical conduct and will comply with and assist in complying with all applicable laws and regulations. This will include and not be limited to following the Solaris Health Code of Conduct and all Solaris Health and Affiliated Practice policies and procedures; maintaining the confidentiality of patients' protected health information in compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA); immediately reporting any suspected concerns and/or violations to a supervisor and/or the Compliance Department; and the timely completion the Annual Compliance Training.
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSURES OR REGISTRY REQUIREMENTS Registration with one of the two recognized medical diagnostic sonography organizations is preferred: The American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography or the American Registry of Radiological Technologists. BLS certification required, ACLS preferred. Current R.D.
M.S. Certification. KNOWLEDGE | SKILLS | ABILITIES Knowledge of database management. Knowledge and ability to navigate EMR system. Knowledge of medical terminology, healthcare coding systems, and clinics functions. Knowledge of governmental regulations and compliance requirements. Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, managed care, and other third-party payer’s guidelines.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Strong technical, communication, interpersonal, and patient service skills. Strong analytical, judgment, and decision-making skills. Customer-oriented with ability to remain calm in difficult situations. Delivers exceptional patient service throughout all interactions.
Ability to build relationships with patients and display empathy and compassion to patients. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of physicians, managers, patients, family members, and the general public. Ability to explain technical terms in a clear and understandable way. Ability to operate imaging technology and machinery. Complies with HIPAA regulations for patient confidentiality.
Complies with all health and safety policies of the organization.
EDUCATION
REQUIREMENTS Associate degree in Ultrasound Technology required. Graduate of an Accredited Ultrasound Technician Program required. EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS Previous Ultrasound Technologist experience strongly preferred- six months to one year related experience preferred. New grads will be considered.
