INTERNAL JOB POSTING CREW CHIEF

  • MAINTENANCE Department: Maintenance Status: Full-Time | Non-Exempt Compensation: $24.00 - $30.00 per hour Reports To: Senior Crew Chief/Maintenance Manager Posting: Internal Applicants Only Heather Gardens Association is accepting internal applications for the position of Crew Chief within the Maintenance Department. The Crew Chief is a hands-on working lead who assists in supervising maintenance services while performing a wide variety of skilled technical work related to building maintenance and repair. This position oversees assigned Maintenance employees, helps ensure quality workmanship and safe work practices, and supports the timely completion of work orders. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES The Crew Chief will: Perform structural repairs, including carpentry and roof repairs. Perform plumbing repairs, including auguring lines, installing and repairing valves, and soldering domestic and hot-water heating lines. Perform complex maintenance and repairs on boilers, air handlers, swamp coolers, and HVAC systems. Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems, including 120/208/240-volt circuits and 3-phase wiring. Perform preventive maintenance on boilers, HVAC systems, air handlers, swamp coolers, and locksets. Supervise and train assigned Maintenance employees. Evaluate daily work activities and inspect completed work for quality and safety. Complete work orders and related documentation accurately and timely. Respond to resident inquiries and maintenance concerns and recommend appropriate corrective action. Participate in the Maintenance Department's rotating 24-hour on-call schedule . Promote teamwork, continuous improvement, safety, and excellent resident service. 2026_Crew Chief QUALIFICATIONS Successful internal candidates should have: A valid Colorado driver's license, automobile insurance, and a good driving record. Reliable transportation and appropriate trade-related hand tools. The ability to recognize safety hazards and reinforce appropriate safety procedures. Near-journeyman level skill in at least one trade , such as plumbing, HVAC, or electrical. Working knowledge across multiple building trades, including carpentry, roofing, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and boiler systems. The ability to work independently with minimal supervision. 2026_Crew Chief EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE High school diploma or equivalent. Trade school graduate or equivalent experience. Minimum of four (4) years of building maintenance experience . Training or experience in personnel supervision is preferred. Strong leadership, coaching, and instructional skills. Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, and sketches. 2026_Crew Chief WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR The successful candidate should demonstrate strong technical knowledge, dependability, sound judgment, leadership potential, teamwork, and the ability to provide direction and support to other members of the Maintenance team.
