Accounting Clerk

Description Mental Health Association of Nassau County (MHANC) is a not-for-profit membership organization dedicated to improving mental health in our community through advocacy, education, program development, and the delivery of direct services. Our organization is looking for a motivated individual with a calling to help adults with mental illness by becoming an Accounting Clerk.

The Accounting Clerk provides support to the finance department’s Staff Accountant preparing Nassau County claim vouchers and compiling and assembling supporting documents for the claims. General accounting duties and responsibilities will be assigned by the department’s Controller.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Nassau County Claim Duties and Responsibilities Assist the staff accountant in preparing claim vouchers for Nassau County Contracts. Assist the staff accountant in filing and scanning various documents to support claim vouchers. Entering accounting data into various types of software programs (e.g. Microsoft Excel spreadsheets, pre-formatted worksheets, accounting software, etc.)

Assist the staff accountant with various clerical projects (e.g., scanning, filing, mailing of contracts, etc.) Other duties as assigned by the staff accountant or others accounting department staff. General Accounting Duties and Responsibilities Assists accounts payable in entering invoices, filing and processing accounts payable checks Prepares daily cash log Other duties as assigned by the Controller Requirements Qualifications Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail.

Excel, Word Knowledge of Fund EZ a plus Self-motivated and strong work ethic with outstanding attendance record. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Honest, personable, dependable, punctual, and hardworking team player.
